Model Train Show Hurstville. October Long Weekend

I noticed that some layouts including N Scale had stationary trains with light ON in the carriages. I thought lights only came on when the trains were moving. "Please explain" how this is done?

What type of lights ? There is a good chance that there just LED lights inside the train:)

Quite easy if you have DCC as it has around 18V AC or so going through the rails all the time, of which the DCC signal is overlaid, then the decoder uses and rectifies the DCC for lights, sound, motors etc. The carriages probably just use the power straight off the rails with no decoder, which would only be needed if you wanted fancy light effects or to turn them on or off using the controller.

Cheers

I didn't say I wasn't allowed to, I'm just not going to. Two different things.

And the DualTraiN layout is the one were two little kids (NOTE with parents right behind them) were touching the track, scenery & signals. Yet once again these two children did it yet again, and once again the parents did NOT ask them not to touch. That's the last time I ask the parents for their children not to touch.

Only did I see one parent asked for his child not to touch another layout, and gave him a bit of a smack (good, and I don't care what these do-gooders think)
