Model Railroadz

http://www.auran.com/TRS2004/DLS.php

I love this. Most of my routes are small model railroads I never had time or place to build. Not being a gimmee pig but does anyone know of track templates like this in the popular HO radius sizes. Would love to build accurate representations of my favorite routes on one board. Looking for the Ohio Southern plan from the 70s now. Thanks for the great ideas.

Huttel model railroad

Here are some shots of my other model railroad (called "Multi level layout Huttel") I got available on the DLS:

The grey sides are part of the bottom layer of the layout; no digholes are used.

Here you will find pictures of the original (not my work) this route was modelled after. Had to change the dimensions a bit to keep the grade of the ramps down.

Here is a link to the support topic of this layout in the announcement forum.
Thank you all for 634 downloads so far.

I love that stuff. honestly i have never really enjoyed building real sized routes. Model railroads are a way to go for me.

" ... honestly i have never really enjoyed building real sized routes. Model railroads are a way to go for me."

That has really struck a chord with me.

When I look back on the routes I've uploaded (Inglenook Industrial, Trinity Bay, IntenCity, Krashnburne, DowntownTraction, ... ) they are all actually model railroads.

I'm kind of tempted to revisit some of them and use the techniques in the screen shotz in this thread.

It something I've been working on for a little while, as like many here, I tend to lean more to the model railroad type of theme, (its always frustrating when you can't get this technology to actually work correctly), (yes, I'm referring to the website, Trainz itself has always been buggy!), now I have to figure out how to use "digholes", I can't even find them in surveyor!

Here's an idea, if someone wanted their model trainz to look more like a model railroad in progress, maybe some textures that would look more like plywood! And then for the Lionel people, some textures that look like green painted plywood!

Thanks for the vid.
I finally found the huge brick walls.
What took you so long to find the walls? :D In case you (or anyone) did not find all 3, these are the names and kuids:
  • HUGE brick wall, kuid:645812:97925
  • HUGE wall brick grey, kuid:645812:97930
  • HUGE wall plaster, kuid:645812:97931

now I have to figure out how to use "digholes", I can't even find them in surveyor!
They are in the same list as you will find buildings.

Which reminds me:
For those people who are using loads of digholes to get the steep edge effect with some splines to hide the sides, you might be interested in these two longer "dig holes":
  • Dighole 120m north - south, kuid:645812:98001
  • Dighole 120m east - west, kuid:645812:98002 Edit: Thank you to Stationmistress for pointing me to a silly mistake in this asset. An update is uploaded and will be on the DLS later this week.
Made them for a completely different project :hehe:, but they also come in handy here.
Both dig holes are 12-by-1 blocks, so this could save you a lot of work doing this with the regular 1-by-1 dig holes.

Fascinating concept - I'm intrigued and something new to try, rather than the same old same old...
