Model Railroadz

He only needs one frame rate to make a screenshot :hehe:.
No way will a normal computer run that many Pofig SpeedTrees Efficiently! (Even if only a couple core assets and the sparkle would be annoying)
Better have a I7, 16Gb DDR3 Ram, SSD, and Two Top Notch Video Cards in SLI/Crossfire Configuration.

Route runs smooth as silk for me, even with the yards full of stock and a couple of 10000 ton coal trains going. Those Pofig trees are great for keeping frames down if used properly (there's only 4 or 5 different types) and don't have the clipping issues I find with other types. Basically halve your specs above for what I'm currently building on - I5, 8gb RAM, non-SSD HDD, single gfx card (7870 o/c), so probably wouldn't even count as a modest set up these days.

Holy crap, Eso. How're your frame rates going? :P

Stevo

I was thinking the same. :)

I like a lot of tree cover, coming from New England where trees cover every square inch, but this would not even be possible on my high-powered computer.

Britany is right. He only needs a 1 fps setting for stills. :)

OMGWTF!!! :udrool::mop:

Shall we start counting the trees then? :hehe:

Nice job Eso!

Now for my new project....anyone wanna guess what railroad I am modeling?

Problem I am having is that the walls, stairs, etc are all one part, so once you get over 5000m draw distance, it disappears...sometimes even when you are more like 500m away. Still working to figure that out

I do not know what you are doing to have great fps with Pofig Trees.
They just crush my computer with a NVidia 660TI 2GB DDR5 Video Card.

Still here lurking around the forum. Great job everyone on the participation of this idea and thread. I'd say... "A New Era" has begun.

I don't know that Model RR - but that looks like a HUGE and ambitious project.
Dave I think you are the first person building the house first and the Model RR later... :hehe:

[...] By far, the best Model Railroad in progress is by Felix. I hope it is released and thus why I keep checking out this forum post. [...]
Wow, that's some nice feedback - thanks!

So here we go:
