Missing or Lost Sessions

I've been using 2010 for about 7 months now amd had 12 sessions in my route. Three weeks ago all my sessions were lost. OK, I must have done something wrong. I put 5 sessions back and about a week laterr they were gone. Once is enough. Any ideas out there.?

Thanks

Bob

Have you checked in CMP if they are there, maybe a data base repair is needed. If they do show but not in your surveyor selection then the map may have got a new number and the session cant see it. Check the config of the session to see if the map kuid matches the route maps kuid you are using, if not change the session map kuid to match the routes.

Missing Sessions

Thanks for replying

I went to the CMP and the sessions to be there in my content. I did a database repair both quick and extended. They still don't appear in surveyor. Beyond repairing you lost me I pretty at this. By the way I got 239 errors and 1 warning. That doesn't does it. I don't anything about maps. With a little nudge from yopu I might be able to learn something here.

How to change the map-kuid of a session

Hi twinsbob - Here is how to edit the map kuid of a profile (session). Follow the instructions carefully.

Make sure that you know name of your route. Write it down.
In Content Manager, select the profile you want to fix and right-click it. A menu appears.
Select Edit / Edit in Content Creator Plus. A form appears, notice the label "profile" at the top.
Find the field labeled "map-kuid". Next to the name of the kuid are two buttons, the left one has three dots on it. Click it and a list of asset names appears.
At the top of the form there are two text fields. The upper one has an arrow at the right hand end. Click it and select "map". In the lower field, type the first few characters of your map name.
Select the map that you want, click the Select button.

You are now half way through. You now need to change the kuid-table field.
At the top left of the big white box on the left side of the screen, find the yellow folder labeled "profile", and click the plus sign to bring down the tree.
Click on the kuid-table entry and look for the old map name. It could be right at the bottom.
Click the button with the three dots and select the new map as above.
Now save and commit the profile.

If something goes wrong, revert the profile to original.
This procedure can also be done in Explorer, open the config.txt file and make the same changes. You will need to know the kuid of the route.

Hope this helps.

I'm getting them back. I ended up using exploring.
Although this easier than having to create new sessions it's still a pain and I'm wondering why this happens, this twice in 6weeks. So it's bound to happen again. I also notice that my content some sessions are in there in duplicate some 4 or 5. Obviously different kuid but HMMMMMM.

Thanks again

Hi,

Are you opening up in "Edit in Session" and not "Edit in Route".

Also watch the "layer" system. Still have,nt got my head fully around that yet.

Cheers, John

Sometimes when you have worked on a route and save the route the route gets saved as a different kuid. It is a pain and ive had a lot of this trouble in 09. Did read that the aoto save may be a calprut of this behavior. The duplicates are from the session you saved with the route that saved itself as a new kuid.

I have auto-save unchecked and this still happens on my system, seems to be around once every 2 months,. After working on the route and you go to save it it asks to save as a new route and you have to overwrite the origional but I can't understand why it doesn't save under the origional KUID number, seems very strange.

:D
