Missing Meshes

I have just re-downloaded fitz505's ATSF#4Depot (67794:28076) and ATSF#5DepotWeathered (67794:28075) and discovered that the error I had found in my original downloads, is in fact in the original in that the mesh file is missing from both CDPs. As George Fisher used them in his Bayonne and Red Bank route (whose contents I'm correcting for 2010), I assume there must be another download location that has the complete files. Is anyone able to help me on this please?

It's because of the illegal character in the file name ie.#

TRS won't recognise it and won't import the mesh.

One way to get a kuid with an illegal character into TRS2006, TR2009 or TS2010 is to download this asset via ftp into a temp folder and then edit the mesh file with a hex editor to change the offending character to something else then import the .cdp into Trainz. I tried this with ATSF#4Depot by changing all # characters to 4 then import into Trainz as ATSF44Depot.

Thanks for the information. Why didn't I realise that (another sign of creeping senility!). It does annoy me that Auran first allowed non Anglo-Saxon characters by using Unicode and then reversed that decision so that we have this problem of "illegal" characters. I've had to edit so many European assets to get them to work.

Haven't seen anything with a mesh that had an illegal character, but I have seen items with textures that had illegal characters. The texture files were still there, but the file names were changed to omit the illegal character. In that case an easy way to fix things is to run PM2IM on the mesh file with Strip Textures enabled and Close on Done disabled. It will rename the problem textures and the details will show up in the log window. You then rename the .texture.txt file to match the new name.

Yes thanks for that. I already know and use that. My reference was really to what I have had to do in the past before PEV's program arrived and my annoyance at it..
