I asked a while back about a couple of kuid's from a DLS route that aren't DLS assets and are missing and can't be found anywhere. This is one of the most frustrating parts about Trainz, missing assets in routes that you don't even know what kind of asset they are, a building, a road, a sign, a tree, all you know is the author ID and kuid number. I never got an answer. And I'm surprised that nobody else complained about 30 missing assets from this route, which is Muskanippee Valley by bruinsdude, I also have the one by CPS which isn't available anymore. I found some others but in the end there will be a few missing assets that I have no idea how to get or replace and several by RoysTrainz that are probably from one of his payware routes now at N3V but have no idea which route they are from. Here are the two missing kuid's that can't be found <kuid2:348207:101418:1> and <kuid:776209:100275> A Google search just links back to my questions here, and I can't access the kuid index search results anymore since my subscription ended on Sept. 1 and the site is closing in December. I could try contacting bruinsdude about the missing assets and see if he has any info about them or even has them in his Trainz. There is a workaround to replace missing assets without being able to do it in Surveyor. But, I need to know if the assets are splines, buildings, trees, signs, etc. in order to replace them. I don't want to replace a missing building with a tree.

I don't have those two, but I also don't have that route. What would be really handy is a utility that could scan all four of my versions of Trainz, plus a large archive of cdp. zip, and rar files I have downloaded over the years that are not currently installed and come up with a search result.

It took me a few days to build a full list of every asset I have installed or archived
HPL, what method did you use? Building a spreadsheet is painstaking. I have started trying to put the KUID number on my asset archives, but there are a lot of files of all kinds that have multiple kuids inside. Also, is there some way using CM to export a list of KUIDs from Trainz?

What I did...

• For installed assets

With filter on "Installed" (default) for each column sort ("Base", "Built-in", "Packaged", "Installed from DLS", etc.):

Ctrl + A in CM then Ctrl + C and you get all assets (names included)
Ctrl + A in CM, "Open in a new window" then Ctrl + A in asset list at top and you get all assets (KUIDs only)

• For archived assets

CDP Explorer can build a full list of contained assets in archives (KUIDs only or KUIDs + names)
Then I extracted all as individual assets in format "kuid 1234 1234.cdp"

Once all this completed, all remains to do is to build the database.

Software I used:

EmEditor (a text editor that can manage huge CSV databases in less than a second)
Everything (a local search engine able to scan a 2TB drive with 1.5TB files within 20/30 seconds)

Here is an example of my database:

Sometimes if the asset is old, and can't be found anywhere through a search I will go back to old Trainz versions like Trainz 12 and search for it there. I'm only keeping older Trainz versions from before 19 and 22 to get files from.

Thank you HPL, I am going to give this a try. There are a ton of archived assets (1.17TB as 204,851 files), many with multiple assets to extract , so that will take a while, but I can at least get the current contents of my Trainz versions to start. Much appreciated!
