Missing Dependencies..importing CDP newbie MOM HELP please!!

HELP!

We have Trainz 2006 and my son is trying to import some CDP's he found online. Yesterday, as a fluke, I was able to import a 2-8-2 for him and today when I am trying to import, I can not figure why some new CDP's are not showing up in his railyear.

They actually have the name in the list, but he can not place it on the track.

Like I said, it was a trial and error and eventually a fluke (to me) that the 2-8-2 imported.

What is the correct way to import a CDP - what does "Is not comitted mean" and what are "missing dependencies" as this is what it says when I mouse over the train name in the list..?

Thank you so much! Already spent WAY too much time on this!!

Perhaps it seems like you have spent far too much time on this, but I assure you your son will remember always when his mom tried to help with his game. I'm sorry to throw this roadblock in your face, but if you have a legally purchased copy of 2006, you need to click on the "register" button at the top of the forum and register the game. Once that is done you will receive more help. Please do that before posting back, as the icon for 2006 will appear next to "trainzfan195", and we will be able to see that your version is legitimate. Thank you in advance.

I try to specialize in TRS2006, and encorage TRS2004/06/TC1&2 users to PM me, and I will try to help.

When you double click on a CDP, with the CMP tab it shows that it is "Open For Edit" ... if so ... use the dropdown box and "Commit" the asset ... then when you restart Trainz it will be there ... unless it has "Missing Dependencies" which you must also download, and commit.

Please log into Planet Auran webpage, and register Trainz ... and make a profile.

Just wait till you start editing config files, and start replacing unavailable hornsounds and unlocatable enginesounds ... then you will have spent way too much time on Trainz.

Ok - that got me looking into things and I realized that I registered this product originally for my son back in 2011. So I searched my email and re-signed in with the original user and password that I clearly had forgotten. SO - trainzfan195 is now actually jmh1999. I still do not see an icon indicating I am a registered user, but I am.

I hope you see what you are looking for in order to be courteous and helpful to me.

Ok- I have re-signed in and I believe it now shows the icon that everyone is looking for...that said...where do I find the Missing dependencies TO download????

Thanks everyone!

You click on the asset that is problematic, and click on "Missing dependencies" in the CMP. If it has a kuid# number that starts with 96914, it is over at Bdaneals website: SubParProductions where you download all the "Generic" dependencies ... and while you are at it, everything on his site, including hornsounds. http://www.steammachine.com/bdaneal/gbdl.htm

Google knows everything, so you can even Google the missing kuids.

At Hobos' Horn Sounds there are alot of missing horns: http://trainweb.org/hoboshornsounds/Diesel Air Horns.html

If an item has "Errors" then further config file modifications may be needed. CincySouthernRwy assets are notorious for hard to find missing dependencies.

You will find that not all assets in Trainz come easy to find, and some assets are faulty ... that is because they are Freeware created by individuals who sometimes make mistakes that need config file corrections and modifications in order to fix assets that do not show up.

Asking persons via a PM you can oftentimes get detailed help on fixing config files.

Alot of assets are over at the Black Pages DLS: http://www.auran.com/TRS2004/DLS.php
Note though when searching a kuid you omit the < > arrows in the search box.
Tick off all the Trainz version box's up and including your version.

The 2-8-2, did you get all the dependencies for it from the download site, double check.
Note the missing kuids down, then r/click on the asset in CMP and select view config. You should be able to match some numbers to a description, ie cab or horn. Then go back to the site and get them.
Another way is r/click on the asset and view deps, some may have a DS at the side. Meaning they are at the dls. Select view in main list and any that have DS at the side r/click and select download.

Please note, that having TRS2006 only, you will need to purchase a FCT to download anything from the dls, as 2006 is no longer a 'supported product'.

"Offically documented" by who ?

I bet lots of non-FCT TRS2006 users can still download at slow speed without a FCT ... but thet are not complaining.

Officially documented by N3v (Auran that was). look here ................ http://www.auran.com/TRS2004/DLS.php

Download Access:
You can access the Download Station when you have registered a serial number with your Planet Auran profile for a supported versions of Trainz or have an active First Class Ticket (View Tickets).

"2006 is NOT a "Supported Product" anymore, all 2004 & 2006 users need a FCT unless they also have TC3, 2009, 2010 or TS12.:p

I repeat ... if you asked 9 out of 10 TRS2006 users, they are still able to download at 3.75Kbs ... no matter what anouncement N3V, and you proclaim ... For you really do not know for a fact that they can not download ... your only basis is what N3V "told you" ... and that may be false.

The question is - do the TRS2006 users you mention also have TC3 or later registered?

This is an important question.

It's N3V who have officially documented that a FCT is required. If you wish to challenge that, contact the Helpdesk.
