Minimalist scenery

My honour and pleasure, dear Deane, you are very kind to me! I feel

being located near Morales Glacier :hehe:

Thank you very much.

The LochNessie side of Alberte

It's my way way of saying 'thank you' - anyone who goes to the trouble of making custom items for me becomes immortalized by name in the map. Ish6 has so kindly made copper ingots, rods etc (the final outputs of the mining industries) and you made those ammonium nitrate hoppers and other things that make the mining possible. It's the least I can do.

p.s. Alan Yeomans and DavieUCF have made valid points about how hard it is to avoid HPD (hi-poly disease). I'm trying hard to resist, but places like the mine, nitrate factory, copper smelter and townships are all vital to the map and impossible to do without using scenery. A drop in frame rate/smoothness around those locations is almost unavoidable, but they are pretty much confined to small areas at the terminals of the rail lines, rather than visible along the whole route. Also, I will be trying to minimise the number of different objects used at each location to hopefully avoid really bad stutters, but there is a limit - realism is a seductive mistress to the route builder!

WOW Deane, I just stumbled onto this thread for the first time. I am amazed at what you can do with texture alone, those mountains make a beautiful view, and the glacier took my breath away! What a talent you have. I'm looking forward to this route

Sorry to bump a thread, but have you made any more progress on this? I've been quietly hoping for more updates on your route for quite some time!

James. Or Jim. Eh.
