Minimalist scenery

Now this is what I've been looking for in Trainz for a while! I miss the giant rolling mountains that MSTS had, and I don't usually find them in TRS layouts as detailed as you've put here.

Great work!

Cheerio,

This may start a new trend....

Since the introduction of so many grasses, shubs, trees it has become fashionable to place as much of this stuff on a route as possible.....
This may start a new trend.....:p

Excellant job!:Y:

Those shots are incredible. If you don't finish this route, be assured I'll break my vows of pacifism! :)

As I mentioned before, it's great to see a route being developed with performance being a key focus. This is looking very professional. I would happily pay for it.

How did you render those shadows using TransDEM? I haven`t figured out yet:p

I've been away from my computer and the whole Trainz thing for so long, but I'll try my best to remember what I did. This bottle of Cragganmore isn't helping - It's such a nice single malt.

After getting the basics sorted out in Transdem (terrain, track) I used one of the programs options to add overlays to the map. I used much lower res data from Nasa than most of the rest available, because it would be smoother and more consistent, and it showed the shadows in between the mountains vividly.

After I'd done than, I edited every single image Transdem saved for the data and reduced the colour palette to about sixteen colours or so in photoshop, and stuck to a specific palette. I then edited the text file Transdem has for determining what texture KUIDs are used for each RGB value. This is why I edited those images and stuck to a palette. I made my own textures which corresponded to those RGB values and exported. So, gone were months of texturing. Despite a lot of planing, it was done very easily.

I hope that made sense. I'm enjoying this wonderful Speyside single malt whisky so much. There's no such thing as a bad malt.

Can only can say 2 words after looking at your screenies and reading this thread Dino, absolutely stunning.....You're onto a definate winner here.

And I hope Jim finds the time to finish his Blue Mountains route as well for the community.

We don't seem to have many of this type of layout on the DLS, or elsewhere for that matter, which, considering the positive responses so far, would be a huge bonus to those of us who would be interested.....:mop:

Never seen anything like it,those mountain ranges are some of the best iv'e seen in any simulation, same with the textures. It's opened my eyes as to what TRS is capable of,i'm going back for another look.:)

With the finer grid in 09,those ranges should look stunning.

Keep up the good work.

Wow! I can't really say anything new because everyone else has said so many wonderful things, but really, this looks great. :) I too like the idea of being able to see in the distance. Another big plus is that you're building in an area that as far as I know, has very little coverage in trainz.

I can see that there will be a lot of happy people and a lot of drooling in anticipation going on in the meantime however. :D :hehe: Including myself of course!

Keep up the great work!

WOW. I just found this thread...I have no clue how I missed it. This is some of the most beautiful, stunning work I've ever seen. I've got much to learn from you! Proof that little can be much. =]

As always, I'll be eagerly checking out any layout created by the talented Dinorius_Redundicus.

Yes, the layout looks superb, im just wondering what the polies on all that smoke is. :) and that bridge?

Point im trying to make is i hope you didn't go easy on the polies throughout the whole layout and then blow it by using several high poly effects.

Looks awesome though.

I am in awe at them shots
Very well done to you and Dinorious_Redundicus:clap:

In honor of Ismael Morales

Ish,

I hope you don't mind, but I've named one of the glaciers on my Patagonia map "Glaciar Morales". Your Hispanic surname fitted in quite well with this location I think.

And if Alberte Z. is looking in, I have a certain lake in mind for you. Lago Zato has a nice ring to it.

WOW .... Thank you so much!!!

You have done a very impressive job on this layout ... I don't download much layouts, perhaps 1 per year, so this one might be the one this year ...

I am looking forward into making sessions as well with this layout, etc ... Smileyman has a few ideas about scenarios so I might implement those ideas into your layout Deane! :p

I haven't read all the thread but i've been trying to make a route that performs well for ages, mainly for cab driving so not tons of detail.. I found it hard though and it ended up like every other route.
