merging routes

I want to merge 2 routes, but one needs to be turned through 90 degrees. The 'merge' command does not allow rotation, but I wonder if there is some way of turning a whole route through a right angle; i.e. changing the compass heading so that east or west becomes north, say?

I work with TS2009.

I suspect the answer is no, but would value comments.

I suspect the answer is no...

In short: Correct...

In long: If the route is small it may be possible to copy/paste it rotated 90 degrees onto new boards. On a larger route that is never going to be practical...

This would be something useful to see in future versions of trainz. There's nothing one can do to edit the world origin?

The only thought that occurred to me was transDEM. You can repair the world origin in it after a merge, but if these are fictional maps, it's not possible with that program. Besides, stuff made with transDEM would be north orientated anyhow...

This isn't necessarily a bad thing if you can't merge though, especially if the routes are large. I would *think* performance is better on a smaller route, but route size might have nothing to do with it. You could just put a portal at the end of each when driving and then load up the other one.

If you are trying to merge two fictional routes then the best way around it is to put a couple of blank boards between the merged routes and blend them together with a nice long curve. Just put the blank boards on the end of the first route and merge the second to the other end of them.

Thanks for confirming what I thought - that the compass cannot be rotated. I was hoping to merge a branch into a mainline route, but the branch is 90 degree out, so that project closes!

It is probably only rarely required, but it certainly would be a useful thing for Auran to incorporate.
