Merging problem even in 22

I'm trying to merge Bluebird Mountain Scenic Railroad from the DLS to a DEM with some baseboards deleted because the creator of the Bluebird route deleted some baseboards from the unused portion of the DEM, he used a Charlotte to North Wilkerson DEM and some of the DEM is missing in the Bluebird route. I wanted to expand it. But, when I try to merge, the squares keep flashing and circling around, and after about 5 minutes I killed Trainz 22 in task manager, and probably when I start it again it will run a DBR. I guess I will have to try merging the other way around or delete baseboards and make smaller maps to merge, pain in the butt since I don't have Plus which has the ability to mass delete baseboards. But, I can zoom out and quickly delete them by clicking. TRS19 had this problem and I thought it was fixed in 22. I managed to merge the routes together by merging them the other way, by loading the other route first then merging the Bluebird route to it.

As a test I just merged two of my largest routes in TRS22. It went without a hitch, exactly like it does when I merge them in Trainz Plus.

My general rule of thumb is to start by loading the larger of the two routes into Surveyor and then merge the smaller route to it.

You mentioned in another thread that Windows has some corrupted files and Trainz is marginal on that system. Is this the same system you are attempting to do the merging on?

If it is, I recommend backing up your data and repairing Windows first, it may require a fresh install to fix the problem, and then restoring data and reinstalling Trainz before trying anything that's data-intensive such as merging.
