Can take the XPT most of the way of it's total route.WOW
That would be one heck of a route to drive, and I would not have enough hours in the day to do it as one run, either from south to north or the other direction, but it would be fun!!
It sure is a massive route LOLWOW

Must be some kind of Gremlin, I've reinstalled, moved all the content to a faster SSD, verified, messed with every setting to have it looking like a PS1 game and still freezes up in the merge editor. Ain't meant to be.I really can't share the merged routes, I can tell you how to merge them without the game crashing or freezing the game
Part 1)
1) Load ARTC NSW Main South - VR North-East. Ctrl+M to load the mini map and make sure that you load all baseboards in the mini map
2) Merge the Goulburn Velley route, and making sure again that you load all baseboards in the merge window, position the route, rename at least 1 route layer and merge
3) Save the route As. Do not attempt to even merge a 3rd route and exit Surveyor
Part 2)
1) Load up your merged route, Ctrl+M to show the mini map and make sure again all baseboards are loaded
2) Merge Bethungra Spiral route, making sure that you load the baseboards and then position the route into the correct position
name the route layer and merge the route
3) Go into full map view and load baseboards of the entire route. Now you can join the track, roads and make some small adjustments to best suit your needs
then Save As and exit Surveyor. Now create a new session place a train down and have fun!!
When merging larger routes, it is ideal to load the baseboards allowing the game to create a cache if you know what I mean. This will make merging routes a breeze.
I'm not understanding why you uninstalled and reinstalled, not even transferring to SSD would make merging routes go faster! Even if you have a thunderbolt 1, 2, 3 or 4 port it wouldn't make any differenceMust be some kind of Gremlin, I've reinstalled, moved all the content to a faster SSD, verified, messed with every setting to have it looking like a PS1 game and still freezes up in the merge editor. Phil's merge is only part of it, there are quite a few NSW branches which can also be merged to the Main South. I spent some time putting it all back together last night.WOW

Because you never know, I've had games that crash on certain resolutions on my C drive but worked just fine on another drive on a different SSD (UE4/UE5 engine games are fickle). Pre-caching scenery and objects can happen faster and smoother when the content is on the same drive as the game install etc etc. I'm just trying all the options I can basically.I'm not understanding why you uninstalled and reinstalled, not even transferring to SSD would make merging routes go faster! Do you have discord mate? I can do a live stream on how to merge the routes together in my own discord server. I will send you a link
Don't waste Megs and Gigs on scenery that the common Engineer or tourist will never see . . .
Good question. I'm an older Man who has been around a while. Watching people trying to recreate reality into a computer. This isn't even Science.

It'd be great if i could even merge Tocumwal and it's branches. I'm from Rennie, which is just a siding and a couple farm houses so it's neat to be able to at least drive through there with the ARTC/VR route.Phil's merge is only part of it, there are quite a few NSW branches which can also be merged to the Main South. I too am an older person, well into my 60s, I really enjoy trying to make my routes both realistic and recognizable from places in Google Earth. It's not science it's creativity. I used to drive trains for Vicrail and then V/Line in Melbourne and regions and a change of scenery always stopped the journey from being boring. In my route building, I have gradually increased the detail as I have progressed and become more proficient and it's pretty rare to not be able to see all of the scenery I have built.Good question. Lemme ask you a question. Do you own even a mile of a railroad track?
It sounds as though you have a fairly recent PC if you have 64 GB DDR5 RAM, it may help solve your problem if we could know what CPU and GPU combination you have. Is it SSD or M.2 NvME storage, or a platter hard disk perhaps that you are running Trainz from. I don't think that static or dynamic virtual memory is an issue if you cannot merge a small route. What Trainz build number are you using? (bottom left on the launcher window) Is it standard, platinum or Trainz Plus? It seems very odd that you can't merge so any or all this is pertinent. It'd be great if i could even merge Tocumwal and it's branches.
