Merged Australian Routes

G'day all,

Does anyone have the following routes fully merged together that they can share? I'm having a hell of a time trying to merge them as the surveyor keeps freezing up.

<kuid:664758:101058> VR Goulburn Murray Lines v3 T:ANE SP3

If there are any other routes that merge in together with the ARTC NSW Main South route that'd be great too.

How much RAM do you have?

You need to adjust your page file to assist with merging and editing large routes. The amount of RAM will determine your starting point for your page file.

64GB DDR5, Paging file is like 14GB so that's not the issue. I've definitely looked into it but the merge tool just freezes and chugs the game and I've found no solution to it. Also these routes are LARGE.

Create a 128GB fixed size paging file and see if this works.
Since you've crashed a couple of times, I recommend running a database repair.

The size in Content Manager, sorry I should have clarified.
It is possible that you've gone beyond the limits. It's a lot higher than TS12 was at 500 MB for a route and even that was a bit sketchy and the program would CTD immediately.

All good, people have merged all the way from near Sydney to Seymour with it. It does it for all routes i've tried to merge. Just one of those things I guess.

This means you've got something else going on.

How is your disk space?
Merging takes a lot disk space too in addition to lots of RAM due to creating large temporary files as the routes are merged plus backups of everything. Trainz will create a backup of everything you open or edit. This is part of the long loading times even with a fast disk. If you are low in space, this can not only impact performance but also the ability to merge and edit routes.

About half a terabyte free on an SSD, There's definitely something else going on with it, buggered if I know what.

I'm originally from one of those small crappy little towns along the Oaklands Branch, whoever did ARTC NSW Main South - VR North-East V2 really added some nice detail along the line in those towns.

Right, well that makes sense then.

Two of those routes are by @grazlash and the other by @tomtre. Why not contact them and see if they have a way to solve your problem. Many route builders have a merged version of their routes themselves but they are too big to upload to the DLS.

I really can't share the merged routes, I can tell you how to merge them without the game crashing or freezing the game

Part 1)
1) Load ARTC NSW Main South - VR North-East. Ctrl+M to load the mini map and make sure that you load all baseboards in the mini map
2) Merge the Goulburn Velley route, and making sure again that you load all baseboards in the merge window, position the route, rename at least 1 route layer and merge
3) Save the route As. Do not attempt to even merge a 3rd route and exit Surveyor

Part 2)
1) Load up your merged route, Ctrl+M to show the mini map and make sure again all baseboards are loaded
2) Merge Bethungra Spiral route, making sure that you load the baseboards and then position the route into the correct position
name the route layer and merge the route
3) Go into full map view and load baseboards of the entire route. Now you can join the track, roads and make some small adjustments to best suit your needs
then Save As and exit Surveyor. Now create a new session place a train down and have fun!!

When merging larger routes, it is ideal to load the baseboards allowing the game to create a cache if you know what I mean. This will make merging routes a breeze.
