G'day!

Danny, where did you learn to Reskin like that? And what programs do you use?

Cheers!

Jake.

Glad to see you used the new objects and textures that come with the Sherman Hill free route!
All items supplied with the route may be used freely in free and pay routes.
Nice work Daniel !

@ rastis.

I just practiced and practiced, i started off with GIMP and moved on to Photoshop CS6. I still use GIMP sometimes as i find it easier than Photoshop when doing particular things (that's just my preference) but i just practiced and worked my way around the programs learning different techniques & i think I'm never going to stop learning. I haven't used any tutorials as such, spouse you could say i taught my self.:)

I still class myself as a beginner, i think some credit should go to the guys at Jointed Rail, RRmods & some reskiners that come to mind for inspiring me on ideas and for me to spend hours looking at there quility models. Thinking, "how do i do something like that". lol

@ Jango.

Thanks, its an awesome route! Ive spent hours driving and looking at the beautiful selection of scenery chose on the route, (that i have taken a like too :hehe:). Again, congratulations on there route. There was definitely a top job done on it!

Cheers Daniel

Cheers!

Hi mate,

Well parts of the loco are just done with tools that can be found through out the program. Other parts through out the engine were done abit differently. I went out with my camera and went around looking for rust, dirt, grimy & weather affected paint (stuff like that). I got some close up pictures of them textures that i was able to find around the place, i then went home and uploaded them to the computer where i then chose the best ones out of all the images. Then with the loco in Photoshop already, i imported the close up pictures into the program and used various tools to then reach this affect. Basically how i did it: After selecting certain pieces from the pictures were i then went on to past and blend it into the loco which was quite tricky to reach an affect that looked realistic for a particular prototype i was modeling. I also went over doing some slight weathering over the blended textured area on the SD40-2 to add a bit more of a touch to it. (if only it was that simple lol)

I don't no if that's cheating but i was happy with it :p.

Cheers Daniel - it was pretty cool searching around town for the textures knowing that they were going to be on the side of something that was going to make it into trainz!
