MaSzyna: a FREE train simulator

JCitron

Trainzing since 12-2003

MaSzyna is a 25-year-old train simulator now available on Steam, making it as old as Trainz

The graphics remind me a lot of TS12 or earlier with billboard trees and the grass clumps, except there is a nice-looking sky and nice shadows.

Obviously, the guy doesn't know of Trainz.

Okay, I gave it a 'try' and selected British English. But, I could not figure out how to get the engine to start or move.

It is worth downloading if you want to play with non-American content. I just don't have the immediate patience to figure out how to do the basics like startup, as I did seem to release the brakes, flip the reverser and notch up the throttle. Just doesn't move with engine not running.

Had a look at the Youtube videos for MaSzyna
Looks very good with the requisite clutter and graffiti.
Amazing what can be made by a bunch of Polish enthusiasts in their spare time.

Unless I miss my guess, this appears to be a sim driver only with sessions locked in. There is supposed to be a randomizer so the same session is different every time it runs.

I certainly would like to give MaSzyna a go. A free train sim with 90+% good reviews would be well worth taking a look at even if learning how to drive the various types of locos could be a bit of learning curve at first.
First though I'm going to have to do a computer rebuild and install larger hard drives before taking on a whole new train sim.
