You should be able to use the import function in content manager, and point it to the ts2009/local folder on the desktop if you have a good network connection. Copying the local folder to a (possibly big) flash drive or external drive, and copying it into the new install should work, but you'll need to re-build the database (there's an option in CM) before anything will work.
Note that if you have a lot of assets, this could take a LONG time. Don't sit and watch it...
