Map zoom

In TRS22 is it no longer possible to zoom right in on the map?

I'm trying to navigate to trackmarks but now find it impossible to find out the trackmark name because I cannot zoom in to it. There's too much other text.

If this has been removed (why?) is there any other way around it?

There's another post on this in the Beta forum with much said about it. Unfortunately, zooming in puts us on the ground in walk view instead of allowing us to zoom in close to adjust levers and read text. The text issue is another beef brought up in the same forum post due to the nearly microscopically small light grey text that no one can read.

I never thought to look there. Thanks for the pointer!

I don't know which beta folder to look into. Does this have a workaround? I updated to I think SP3 and this is a disaster for intricate trackwork as found in Philskene's routes. VBirtually impossible to set junctions or determine routes. This is a real deal breaker for me:(

The map in general is piss poor now to put it bluntly. When enabling switch levers and signal, the labels show up all over the place with a grey smear of illegible text the size of booklice. The smear of grey then makes seeing anything else extremely difficult if not impossible.

As HPL pointed out, this issue was brought up numerous times but nothing has been done about it. It's more fun making new things than making things work the right way.

I know I'll get the spiel that in order to make more money N3V needs to constantly come up with new fancy ways of hacking the same thing over and over, blah, blah, blah. The problem is they should fix what they've got so that when they do release a product with new things, they're not piling on more junk on top of broken things because as the pile grows, it becomes more and more difficult to fix underlying issues as we saw with TS12 and other versions. Fixing the obvious bugs also makes the product look better and creates fewer support headaches for the community as well as for the helpdesk.

@pitkin. This was a deal breaker for me too. I will not be purchasing any new Trainz sims or updating (I use that term with some amusement) to any higher builds other than TRS2022 Sp1, because of this massive negative retrograde step by N3V. I suspect many older veterans of this game feel the same about this issue.

I feel the same way. I need to be able to see the junctions and track clearly.

It's all the more irritating as there has been no communication at all: we just ended up with this crap in our faces. Some never-playing-Trainz moron decided it is good for us, customers. Plus complete radio silence from N3V: that takes the biscuit!

Question was asked in the last live stream. Answer was change is because of new 3d graphics added to TRS 2022 and can not be changed.
At least that's what it sounded to me.

Fortunately I did not write over my SP1 game directory. But this will likely be my last Trainz release to use.

"Change because of new 3D graphics added to TRS22": so, Driver is part of TRS22, but Surveyor (still with the old map) is not...
In other words, the old map will remain with Surveyor forever and the new map in Driver will forever be broken so it doesn't work properly and the code for the map will be frozen because it'll be too difficult to fix after some other big changes have taken place.
