map-kuid

This must have been answered somewhere in the Forums before but I can't find the result.

I am now on version 23 of my route.
I can't delete any previous versions because each one depends on the previous version which appears in the new route as the required map-kuid.

Is there any way of doing away with most of my earlier routes?

G'day nahgallaco, just a guess here but it would appear you have been working in the session layer or the session itself and therefore it requires the route as a dependency. The probable cure would to merge all layers in "edit route" and then save. but may pay to check this before rushing in.

Routes don't depend on previous ones. Are you meaning sessions? as only sessions require a map kuid in order to find the route it is attached to. If so, the session is attached to the map it was created with and if you save the map and session as a new name it creates a new kuid number and is completely independent from all the other ones. This means that version 23 is your most up to date route and the session attached to it is the most up to date session. All other routes and sessions have no influence on version 23.

After making changes in Surveyor I have been using Save As - saving Route and Session under a new number.
This is because I have over 20 units running under AI and I don't want to have to retype all those instructions every time.
It seems I have been confusing editing in Routes vs editing in Sessions as both default to Surveyor.
I disabled all but the current with no ill effects.
When brave enough I will delete these old routes/sessions.
Thanks for pointing out the differences.
Stuart.
