Hi, I just got Trainz 22 and I'm having trouble making my map so that it shows the "top" of the map being the north part of the map by default. In addition, when I go into map view it suddenly becomes free roaming. Is there a way to fix this?
When you open a route in Surveyor the camera point of view you see will always be the view you saw when you last exited that route. That has always been the case with Trainz and I have no idea if it is possible to change - and I have never had a need to change that. This allows you to resume working at the same place with the same camera view you had when you were last working. So if your camera was pointing south from a height of 100m above a particular location looking down at an angle of 45deg when you last exited the route then that is where it will be when you later reload the same route. I have never had a problem with that but I would have an issue if it did not work that way.
I do not know what you mean by "free roaming". Entering Map View by either method (selecting Map from the Camera Menu or just zooming out) gives the same result. Camera (or point of view) movement in Map View is exactly the same as it is in normal view - a right mouse click on the map. I do not know what else you expected.
It's not that, it's when I'm driving a train the map keeps turning with the train as opposed to staying in place like what happened in T:ANE and earlier. Is there a setting to disable this?
Also from the Main Top Menu, Settings option in the General Settings section there is a checkbox Enable Free Internal Camera but that only seem to affect the Cab view option.
In Map view I rarely, if ever, follow moving trains and I have not noticed any change in behaviour.
The annoying flip-the-camera-around-when-selecting-a-locomotive in Driver has been with us since TS12 at least. It would be nice if the old behavior of keeping the camera where we placed it was back. We've asked about this before but nothing was done.
