When I have a train drive to a place and then I want to operate it manually the dial does not show up on screen. Anyone else notice this?

You need to choose the DCC driver mode from the dots at the bottom right of your screen after taking over an AI mode driven loco.
You can also choose cab mode if preferred.
Those dots are a toggle, allowing you to choose which Driver mode applies to your selected consist.

You also have to move to the train and take control. Right-click to move to the train...
