Mamimum Drivers in 2012

What is the maximum # of drivers that can be configured on a route? Can this number be increased? How can I add more drivers?

I made a route with 75 consists and many don't have a driver assigned and non are available.

Thank you

Bill

Hi Bill,

You can add additional drivers by editing the session. In the Session editor, which opens up Surveyor, choose the icon that looks like a piece of paper. This is located on the top bar. Once this loads, click on the line with the engineer's image on it, and you'll see your consists which are assigned to drivers. Click on add driver and you can then assign them to other consists.

Now keep this in mind. The more drivers you have running around, the more resources will be used causing Trainz to get slower and slower. I found that about 20 drivers can be the cusp of the tipping point for this. Having said this, I recommend using the Quick Drive rule. You can have as many consists sitting around and all you need to do then is assign a driver to one of them when the time comes to drive.

Hi

A few years ago I ran some tests with the SCS2006 rule and ran a loop which added a consist, ran it for some distance and then deleted it. It worked perfectly for 55 times and then it put a consist on but didn't complete the task. With SCS each consist has its own thread and the test led me to believe that Trainz used 64 threads, 8 used internally by the program which left 56 for other threads. SCS had 1 thread that was used to set up the session which left 55 threads for consists.

I don't know if this applies to a non SCS session but according to your results it looks likely. If that is the case then I can't see any way to increase that number.

Hopefully someone can tell us that I've drawn a wrong conclusion from the test but I'm not too hopeful.

Regards

Brian

John,

Im running this in Quick Drive. Is here a way to increase drivers without running a session? In the session editor, when I add a driver, it removes one from an existing consist.

This sounds like you have reached the maximum limit then of drivers. I think Brian might be on to something here and perhaps someone from N3V could add some light to this since I don't think anyone else has reached this limit before. :)

I had reached the limit once when I was testing new section updates on A Forest Test BETA 2.0. The way I got around it was just download some more drivers from the DLS, and making one.
