Major Tri State Area Project

Thanks Acelejalde. I received your reply and replied back. Right now, I'm working on completing the Bronx River Parkway and some of the exit ramps along with some scenery. To me, it's so interesting, having some commuter train action on one side of the Bronx River Parkway and subway action on the other side of the Bronx River Parkway. Sooner or later, I'll add in the #6 subway line and the Northeast Corridor.

I'm not sure if you've seen this resource, but the same guy who brought us the large, detailed diagram of the tracks around New York, also brings us this depiction of the entire NJT Railroad and SEPTA Regional Rail systems, including the NEC from Newark, DE to Sunnyside Yard, NY. It might be useful for the West-of-Hudson lines.

Thank you for the map Scottbe8. This is definitely a great resource. I'll use it for the Port Jervis line in Trainz. I hope to work on that portion of the Major Tri State area some more also during the summer. Here is a screenshot for the subway. #2 subway train bound for Flatbush Avenue during the morning rush approaching the Pelham Parkway subway station. For this subway line, all the track work is complete between Gunhill Road and East 180th st. Just have to work on the scenery now for that section.

@Malikrthr: Austin316Hockey has joined the BDC Projects development team and has some new elevated tracks and pieces out that I think would really go nice on the NYCTA portion of your route. Check em out!

Thanks Acelejalde. I'll check out the new elevated tracks. Here are some more screenshots. The Amtrak train over the Hellgate Bridge bound for Penn Station.

Almost all of the track work is complete between Astoria, Queens and Penn Station. Just have to do a little more track work in the Sunnyside yards and then add some more scenery.

The portion of the route that I am working on now is the Amtrak Northeast Corridor New York Terminal District and the CSX New York Connecting Railroad that runs through Queens. Before I start working on the scenery, All the track junctions and overhead catenary wires have been made between Sunnyside and Astoria, Queens but I would like to know if I can get some assistance with how Amtrak's signals work and where they are supposed to be placed. If I can get some help with the signal placements, that would be great. I took a look at the website below, but when I place the signals on the track, they are either red or a yellow slant.

Thank you Robertoc45. Your LIRR work is awesome also. Below is a screenshot of an LIRR Mp15ac towing a disabled LIRR M7 to be serviced at the Arch Street Yard in Long Island City.

Here is a section of track just east of the Sunnyside yards. I switched back to Compatibility mode and I notice that I get more fps and less stuttering and microstuttering when using the older billboard trees and grass compared to the 3d speed trees. So far, in the busy areas of the route such as the Sunnyside yard, I'll get between 40 and 90fps when in compatibility mode. I also made the switch to the older billboard trees because they look nice. Even though they are old scenery items, who says old cannot be used. As long as it works and looks nice, that is the important thing.

Thanks amtrak2041864. Those trees that I used in the last screenshot are trees made by a trainzer known as "Tundra". The original link that I had gotten the trees from does not work but there is a thread around here saying that they can be found on the trainz depot. The url is below.

For my computer, the speedtrees don't kill frame rates but I do notice some stutter and microstutter here and there. On my computer, the older paperboard trees still stutter a bit but it's less than the speed trees. I also noticed when building the route in surveyor, after a while of placing speedtrees on the baseboards, there would be a point when I try to add them, no speed tree shows up but when I go into quick drive, the speed tree shows up. When Trainz A New Era is released, I wonder what the old trees and the speed trees will look like.

I like to mix speedtree with baseboard trees. They really help reduce stutter and also frames. Me too, I hope speedtrees are integrated into trainz New Era. It can help alot with stutter and frames.

Good news everyone. I am proud to say that New York Penn Station in the Major Tri State Area is complete. I completed all the tracks, tunnels, catenary and third rails. Signals will be worked on when I complete the track work to Jamaica Station along the Long Island Railroad. So far, I have made it to Woodside Station. Below are pics of the finished Penn Station. The next major thing to work on is the remainder of tracks, yards, and scenery in the Sunnyside area.

Excellent work! Shoot me an email later on, I might be able to help regarding the (2) and (5) signaling projects.

Keep it up!
