In TRS2004 I had a lumberjack with ax in hand cutting down timber. I cant seem to find it now. I would like to see if it would show up in my TS2010 layout. Has anyone seen this guy cutting down trees?

Thank you Motorbreath ! Downloaded the wood choppers and they work fine in TS2010. Cant find them in CMP though either under Today or Open For Edit. lol

Now to get the two guys with the bandsaw to show up.

Got them, all working fine.

What is the purpose of the elevated railroad ?

And what are those two angled walls with portals cut in them ?

Best guess, to make it easier to get finished lumber from the mill to the top of the stacks. If you just have to drop it down off the cart, then no need to raise it up meaning less work.

As for the walls, Id think they might be a wind break. Or to help keep sparks form reaching the lumber.

But this is speculation pulled form knowledge o what I think would work best. Educated guess's in other words. But it's cool.

After reading the article referenced in the post above this one, it seems the railway delivery system is elevated, to use gravity to get the cars down the line. The elevated rails are sloped towards the sort yards, so that the cars can be manually rolled to their unloading points, w/o using a steam engine.
I don't see any cranes in the yards, so I'm thinking they may have unloaded by hand?

It's hard to see in the picture in post no. 4, but I think the cars would be returned to the load point with a cable pull system, but that's just a guess of course.

The Jennings Brothers Hemlock Mills in Maryland here, also has an elevated railways system >

On the human evolution food chain, the highest order, of bravest, and hardest working of all workers are as follows:

#1 Lumberjacks
#2 Steeplejacks
#3 Roofers
#4 Trashmen
It's a real shame that the modern day lumberjack is the guy in the cab of this disastrous thing.

We need the old method back.

This reminds me of a song from Monty Python's Flying Circus;

I'm a lumberjack and I'm okay,
I sleep all night and I work all day.

I cut down trees,
I eat my lunch,
I go to the lavatory.

On Wednesdays I go shopping,
And have buttered scones for tea.

(Just a note, it gets progressively weirder towards the end, though such is the case with most things Monty Python)
