Lost Password

I just did a full sort on TS2022. I tried to then load the program and it asked for my password. I entereed my account number, which I have used for years in these situations and it is rejected. I never had a password but did have the account number. Is there some process to resolve this or do I have to buy a new copy of TS2022? I have been to the Help process and am led in a circle. The sites I normally use have simple clear instructions and a process for recovery but I do not understand the N3V system.

If I buy a new copy of TS2022 can I use the routes I already have constructed and are in the now blocked database or in CDPs/

If by account number you mean user ID, then anyone could get it: https://forums.auran.com/threads/australian-rolling-stock.177961/post-2018868
It is better to contact support and I think they will be able to return everything to you.

This illustrates my confusion with the N3V system. Beginning many years ago I signed up and the term used was account number. I assume that is also what other sites call the user ID. Thus, in the past, when asked for my ID and password I used the account number for the password and it worked. As far as I know I never had something named "password" I always used account number. I have no notation of any N3V "password".

Note: my account is still valid since I am posting and also running a route on the old TS2019. It is just that the Account number/ Password does not work while trying to recover from running an Extended Sort on 2022 and being told I had to sign in after it completed without error.

If you are using Edge or some other modern browser, you may be able to retrieve your password. In Edge, you need to go into your privacy settings and view the Edge wallet, or search for passwords as it's a bit faster. Once in the passwords, you can then search for Auran.com URL and you'll see the password that you will have to unlock with a pin in order to view.

Since the password for your My Trainz account is the same as the one used to login to Trainz, you can copy and paste the password from your wallet into your Trainz login.

I wonder though. Why are you being asked for a new password? Is this a fresh install, or did something crash that caused your install to lose the database?

I did read your description of your problem, but I didn't quite follow it.

I did a full database sort. When I tried to start 2022 after the sort it asked for my ID and password. It rejected the data I normally input. Dead end.
I checked and the name is the same as on the N3V subscription page. The password is not visible. I entered the same password I use when acknowledging updates but it was rejected. That ID and Password are the only security items I ever use with N3v.

So the sort screwed up the name/password or some checksum, etc. and to proceed I had to restablish my credentials. No big deal. Expected. But my usual credentails are also rejected. Now I probably need to reinstall TRS 2022 and use CDPs to re-establish the data base.

Big worry now is that these people will also invalidate my credentials for TRS2019 and thus a total loss of years of effort.

That makes sense. Thank you for 'splaining again.

You may not have to reinstall.

When Trainz crashes it can eat its pointer to the database and login credentials. A crash like this is pretty significant and doesn't happen very often compared to what we had with T: ANE when this occurred nearly every day with the constant crashes until SP2 came out.

When you restart any of these new Trainz versions after one of these crashes, T:ANE thru TRS22 and family, will automatically create a default database and content folders with nothing much in it other than the base built-in assets.

What you might want to try is opening up the folder where your Trainz database and content is located. Check the top-level and not the actual data-folder. At the top-level, or at the default location if you set up your data on a separate drive, you will most likely find a new build folder with about 9 GB instead of a whole lot more as it should. Make note of which folder is bigger and go back into the Launcher Trainz settings and repoint the program to your full database instead of the new one it created.

After the restart, check your Trainz settings again and you'll notice you are logged in fine.

Solving the password issue is another nut to crack though and something you need to resolve should you need to reinstall all over again without needing to do a password reset.

Dropped back to basic 2022 program and database. Some routes completely gone, So, did a CDP of the targeted route. Loaded the list of things needed but that were not in the database yet, So downloaded (via Missing Items List) in the Content Manager about 80mb of STUFF that needed to be freshly loaded using the DLS database to load any missing items of which there were many. This was many buildings, textures, and foliage that had to be freshly acquired. "In progress" now loading about 80mb..I think a proper description on the resurrection for the routes data would be fairly simple. Just lots of "stuff" to load.

The route that took a consist of hoppers to a siding and where a lcal engine took them to a mine for coal and returned them to a siding where the engine from Boston magically appears and hauls the load back to bston.

There may be a formal process but, as usual with this program, the explanation belies the complexity. Basically I deleted my current route and reloaded it from a CDP backup. I was very surprised that it worked. Because of the complexity of the elevation and texture calculations the process did hit 100C for two cores of 12.

So, I totally relied on CDPs and a final" load missing items" to resurrect the route in 2022.

With a full database repair, some assets will be left in the open for edit folder. These will show as missing in a route. Just select them all and revert to original.
DLC assets could also show as missing.

Good tip. Problem is remembering all of the "good tips". It would be nice if the recipient had a category to place the tips into that they needed into a searchable category for recall. I see a Code option in the forum instructions. Would that be suitable "Tip Storage.
