Losing the internet connection in Thailand

Thai1On

Slave to my route
Hi everyone, as you may have been reading Bangkok is on the verge of being flooded. I have gotten a few warnings from school and a few forums that the country could lose its connection to the net if CAT (main internet service here) goes underwater

I live in the northeast far from Bangkok and were dry up here. Hopefully I keep my connection and will be able to use the DLS and upload more pictures of my route. To all the Trainzers living in the greater Bangkok area good luck and stay dry!:mop:

I have been following the bad news from Thailand for some time now, but lacking specific locations of our friends over there I am not able to tell who is in trouble and who is not. I'm glad to hear you are removed from the main flooding, and I hope Roy is as well. Best of luck to you and your countrymen!

Thai1on: Did my engine smoke ever work for you??I'm sure glad you are high and try and I hope joosten is too(Roy)..I hope everthing turns out well for you..

While I still have a connection I wanted to tell Bob Cass the smoke looks GREAT! Thank you for the help I'll be converting the rest of the fleet

Update: reports say it looks as though over the next few days will be the worst for Bangkok. I'm hoping for the best for them down there and I hope my net connection keeps working

Wish you folks in Bangkok and the rest of Thailand the best of luck. Hope all goes well for you. Sorry to hear of the loss you guys had.

Engine smoke? Does it have a kuid #. Is it on the DLS? Steam or Diesel? Thanks for any guidance.

Definitely interested Bob. My favorite era is the steam/diesel transition period so I run a lot of steamers. Tell me more please.

Tom, Bob walked me through the process and you will be thrilled once you see your locomotives at work.

Seems the infrastructure in my village is having problems. The phone service went down about a week ago but since most everyone uses cell phones no problem. Last night though the DSL went down and with the problems down south I'm not sure went I'll be online at home :'( . My only choices now is school or some on the internet coffee shops.

I have 2 personal friends who live in Bangkok and they've been sending me regular text messages as the flooding developed. The poor buggers spent the last week shifting all their household belongings to higher places and sandbagging the house, only to be ordered to evacuate yesterday. They were lucky to get out by car and move down to Banglamung (near Pattaya) because all the roads were jammed with people doing the same. Everyone's dog-tired and irritable (including the dog). Loss of internet is probably the last thing on their minds!:hehe:
