Looking for some Road Arrow Markings

In the DLS thumbnail for paulzmay's "TOWN" and "C'TRE" road marking splines, you can see a right-turn arrow road marking just ahead of the "TOWN" marking. See that DLS thumbnail screenshot by paulzmay below:

Note the right-turn arrow just ahead of the "TOWN" marking.

Does any one know where to find those arrow road markings? They do not come in paulzmay's Road Markings pack, and I even brute-force-searched the DLS for "arrow" (without the quotation marks), which did not turn up any road arrows.  ;)

Thanks and regards.

Retro,

Aren't you working on a road project under the name of 'YARN Expansion' or similar? If so, and you can't find certain road-related assets, why not just make your own? Then upload to the DLS for other users.

Matt.

Yes, but what I need here is exactly what you see in the screenshot. I want those arrows for a British private layout of mine for the roads, especially those using the AJS street kit roads. Also, the arrow in the thumbnail looks like a paulzmay Road Marking-style spline object to me (meaning that it likely is a spline connected to the paulzmay road marking splines. I wonder if paulzmay made them?).

Also, the road arrows in the YARN2 project will likely be built-in to the prefabs (i.e. intersections and other similar fixed road objects), instead of as seperate objects/splines, as all intersections in the U. S. that have lanes limited to certain turning directions will generally/usually have an arrow in the lane to indicate the allowed turning directions. The U. S. also uses its own style of arrows (similar to the fact that it uses the FHWA fonts on road signs). The U. K. does not use the FHWA fonts (instead, it uses the "Transport" fonts), so it would figure if they used their own style arrows that are different from the U. S. ones. ;)

Making my own is a possibility, but if there is already an asset out there that is exactly what I need, then I might want to go after it instead of making my own. I might still make my own arrows and out them on the TPR Download Depot (I can not upload to the DLS anymore--note my Trainz versions) as a last resort, however. ;)

Maybe paulzmay can answer this one, as he is the one who took that screenie anyway. ;)

Regards.

Looking at my TRS2004 files, it seems there are many DLS assets that are probably road markings. I can't tell exactly what they are as i'm only looking at an Excel list of kuids, but check into kind=scenery assets by the following authors;

Thanks so much, Deane! :D ;)

All three of the creators had lots of great doodads for me to grab and nab. ;) :p The first one might have some arrows in his/her road marking pack, but I struck gold on the third (last) one, who had a couple packs of roads arrows just sitting there all nice and big and shining bright. :udrool:  :D ;)

Thanks again, and regards. :)

Retro,

Search 'ETS'

Jamie

Hi Jamie. The first User ID that Deane listed above was the creator of the ETS assets. ;)

Thanks for the suggestion any way. :D ;)

Oh, by the way, all three of those creators used non-English languages. Two of them were German, and the other one may have been German as well. No wonder I was not able to find the arrows myself--they had non-English names! The day that Auran/N3V Games implements a translator in to the Download Station will be a good day. :p  ;)

Regards.

I've often found that using google translate to look up the French, German, Czech etc. word for what you're searching for and then searching the DLS will reveal loads of goodies...

TRS has support for multiple language names for items, but I haven't seen it used much, either by those who speak English as a first language, or by those who don't.

Paul

p.s. The creator in question is engfer - sorry I saw this a bit late...

p.p.s. One of my current projects is a more complete set of UK road markings (TS2009 upwards). Some of you may have an early beta - I posted a link on UK Trainz before it shut down...

No problem. I have two sets of arrows now :D , and Engfer's set looks practically just like the one in your DLS thumbnail. ;)

I agree that Google Translate might be helpful here. :D ;) I will have to try it in the future. ;) Thanks for the suggestion! :)

Sounds great, Paul. :udrool: ;-) I will probably have TS2010 (or whatever :p ;)) in the future, so I might have to check those out, eventually. ;-) Regards.

That's one of the reasons I've spent the last 4 months doing nothing but re-name TS2010's built-in assets, add keywords to configs and put screenshots to as many as I can stand (since lovely Auran stripped most of them out). And fixing errors. Ugh..

Anyway, I'm glad you found what you wanted. After 9 years of Trainz there's hardly anything that hasn't already been made, so it's always worth asking before making things yourself.
