Answer the simple question, mrscsi.

djt asked:

Indeed. Why can you not answer it? He is not saying that the Dell is not better than the others in that sentence. He is asking You How the Dell is better. Just answer the question! He just wants to get your opinion on the matter. ;)

Also, I am not sure of how well the moderators would feel about you posting about an other user like that on your website, such as calling him names.

Regards.

Well first off I never said they were any better and if you would have read the entire thread you would have seen I never said they were...

The entire debate started when after I answered the original poster djt posted that Dell was "proprietary junk" just skip back and you will see it :)

I explained to him that the Dell i7's all had Intel boards and he then mischaracterized what I said saying"are you saying ALL dells have Intel boards?" again look back and you will see it...

The reason I am not answering his irrelevant question is because it is irrelevant to the op's original question.

Now as far as what I write and don't write on a site that I alone foot the bill for, I would think that the mods here or the main company would tell you that instead of worrying about what I write or don't write you really need to get a grip and worry about your own life and business and stop trying to be the web police...:hehe:

In other words I'll break it down for you really simply, if you don't like it don't go there...

Retro00064,

You have a PM.

You have a PM.

Unfortunately, no, I do not. It is neither in my P. M. inbox here on the forums, nor in my e-mail (I just checked that to see if it happened to be in there instead). It must not have gone through.

Do opinions really matter on hardware? I would have thought we had enough hard information available without having to resort to opinions.

Intel / ASUS/ Gigabyte motherboards. Generally when Intel come out with a new chipset or cpu they are generally first to market with a new high quality motherboard.

My Gossip is ASUS had its roots in a Taiwan university and at a technical meeting with Intel identified the cause of a problem to Intel engineers with their cpu and Intel motherboard. As a result ASUS has always had very close ties with Intel.

So generally speaking market "share" and share isn't quite the right word here, is Intel motherboards on the very new stuff, ASUS close behind, Gigabyte typically shortly afterwards. At a point in time requirements, costs, availability, has the supplier a short term reliability problem will factor in to the decision on which motherboard to offer. You also have to take into account that Dell typically will use the same configuration for a year so what made most sense when they were selecting components may not make most sense now which is one way that selecting your own components can make sense.

If you want to get into which bits of the machine can be improved by hardware and what the improvement is you could always dig perfmon out and see what is happening.

Yes there is enough hard information out there but you're certainly not going to find it in this forum.

Dell uses REAL intel x58 motherboards...:hehe:

Users of Dell I7's don't have to settle for overpriced clone boards that just use the intel chipset, we get the REAL thing LOL :hehe:

Those are the two comments that we're questioning. Anyone who has any experience with a “real” Intel branded motherboard will tell you that the BIOS is pretty much locked and the components on the board aren't any better than what you find on a decent Asus or Gigabyte motherboard (which anyone can find out with about 15 minutes of research that they two of the highest quality motherboard manufactures out there).

Here's the last Intel branded motherboard I've had actual experience using (which wasn't overly impressive) -

Yes Dell motherboards are locked...but get this through your thick skull...NOT EVERYONE IS A HARDCORE NERD OVERCLOCKER. If you use the computer for a very basic game, or just surfing the web, what in hell do you need a bios that has unlocked features so you can overclock, so therefore what is the difference what they get? Makes no sense to me, the more things added the more of a risk that the average Joe can mess something up, somewhere somehow.
Now if you are indeed a hardcore nerd overclocker, then sure maybe the unlocked bios is the thing for you, if your not then who cares?

Please learn something and pipe down. If you don't need something why get it? If you don't need a screwdriver because you already have one at home, are you gonna run out and get a ratcheting screw driver simply because it looks cool? Most people would answer NO.

Nicely said mike Nicely said. My system is quite basic. A simple quad-core processor, 4gb of ram, nice mobo, 1tb harddrive and a 750 watt psu. Not top of the line but she runs like so. You don't need top of the line **** to have a great computer. The only people who even bother waste their money on those kinds of computers are those who spend their lives behind the monitor playing world of warcraft or something. Well thats my two cents.

Now get this through you’re thick skull, THERE ARE SOME OF US WHO WANT TO GET THE MOST PERFORMANCE OUT THE HARDWARE FOR THE MONEY.

NOT EVERYONE IS CLUELESS ABOUT COMPUTER HARDWARE.

Gee look at all the “HARDCORE NERD OVERCLOCKERS” -

But wait their not playing “world of warcraft or something” are they?

So what would make someone who’s into flight sims any more of nerd then someone who plays with train games?

Ok first off dude, chill out. I wasn't saying all nerds play WoW. It was just a general reference to a game. Yea I could have easily said flight simulator or trainz simulator but Wow was the first thing that came to my mind.

That kind of language is prohibited on these forums, as per the Code of Conduct. It sure is tempting to report that post.

Dude by all means if you feel that i've offended you its your right to report me on this forum. While you're doing that why don't you take a look at my post count. Gonna shock you on how often I participate in these forums. So go ahead. Doesn't matter to me. I dont see any phrases nor words that are considered prohibited. But again Go ahead dude.

Well said. Very well said. The people who really know what they're doing are those of us who know hardware well enough to know what we need to do what we want, without spending money on extra, unneeded capacity.

I am not offended, I was just reminding you of the rules. ;)

Have a read of the Code of Conduct yourself, especially rule 3.
