Looking at this dell computer

John could you share with us your experience with upgrading Dell’s?

Do you have any experience upgrading Dell’s?

What would gaming on a PC have to do with being Green or saving electricity?

I would suggest you provide information from some place more reputable then Tom’s B.S. hardware site.
Why is it that you must, try and correct everything that everyone says regarding computer hardware and even software. You are not god's gift to computer components and the building or upgrading of a computer either. The fact that you seem to "talk down" to everyone strikes a nerve with me, and I am sure many others to.
None of us have to prove ourselves to you, about what we have and have not done.

A lot of things you say here are all a personnel opinion and can hardly pass as a hardcore fact.. Like Dell's suck. I personally agree with that statement, however other people like them, and stand by the product for what it was intended to do.

If any company was selling "Intel"-brand computer parts that were not even actually made by Intel, or made under a license from Intel, then they would be commiting trademark infringment, and would be wide out in the open for a huge law-suit. ;)

Regards.

I suggest you do a little research on just who actually manufactures Intel chipset based motherboards and get back to us.

I’ll give you just one example, the company is called Foxconn.

Lol, just call it my distaste of misinformation spreading and B.S.

Since you feel that my responses are just “personnel opinion” I’d have no problem taking any of these discussions into a real hardware forum where those who do have a clue can dispute my claims.

I know that Intel outsources their manufacturing. Otherwise, since Intel is an American company (right?), we would likely be seeing Made in U. S. A. computer parts, which are as rare as car-sized diamonds these days. ;)

Some times, the name of the Asian (yes it is always Asian :'( ;)) manufacturer of the part is stamped on it. That would be a start. ;)

Regards.

Dell haters or just those of us who actual have experience with them?

Which Dell PC that you’ve owned has had a “REAL INTEL BOARD”, built by Intel, lol?

How about the Intel branded boards sold at Newegg, Tiger Direct among others, are those “Intel” motherboards built by Intel?

My studio xps 435 mt has an INTEL x58 motherboard...

The word Dell never appears on it and I know it for a fact since I have held it in my hands...

The word Intel is silkscreened on it multiple times...

Again I know it is since I have held it in my hands and seen it with my own eyes...

Now unlike YOUR "Intel Branded" licensed Asus wannabe, my motherboard IS an Intel board and yours is NOT...

"Experience with them" yeah right if you had any you would know what is in one and wouldn't be just making up stories to try to convince people you were smarter for wasting $350 bucks on a licensed intel wannabe board...

Now you can take my word for it OR if you are REALLY confident in your knowledge just pm me and I will give you a paypal acct and when you put 50 bucks in there I will remove my motherboard and take some pictures for you and show you that you are just plain wrong...

50 bucks should be nothing for someone who busts out 350 for a mobo right?:hehe:

It doesn't really matter. A lot if not the majority of your Ford or Honda wasn't made by Ford or Honda. But the car is still built to Ford or Honda's specs and it's Ford or Honda's reputation at stake, good or bad.

Foxconn is a key supplier for Apple, BTW.

Yeah but mine says INTEL and yours (if we are to believe your signature) says ASSUS (spelling intended) :hehe:

So hardware genius, why all that high dollar hardware just to run a directx 9 trains sim?

Or are you just a wasted gamer who can't sleep well unless they have the latest greatest?

Bottom line the OP asked if that Dell would run 2010 and it will and then some...

So hardware genius, make the case WHY he should follow your example and waste money on hardware he will never benefit from running trainz 2010?

I think he probably runs a PCjr and just went out and made up that signature from a google search of "how to waste money gaming":hehe:

Are you telling us the Dell always uses an Intel manufactured motherboards in their Intel based machines? How about HP?:o

Please, please tell us how that motherboard in your Dell is of any higher quality then a Gigabyte or Asus board (you know those wannabe motherboards) , this should be interesting, lol.:hehe:

Who says that all I run is DirectX 9 train games?

As I’ve asked a hundred times over, prove to me that the better hardware doesn’t benefit CPU dependent games like Trainz.

Well I guess READING in FUNdamental...:hehe:

I wrote that MY Studio XPS 435 has one and I would probably put 10 bux that the 9100 the OP mentioned has one too...

I also wrote that for a good number of years now Dell has been using "off the shelf" components and that is absolutely the truth...

If you had ANY experience with Dell in say the last 5 or 6 years you would have known that as well...

Again reading is FUNdamental...

The original poster asked a specific question and didn't ask what you play now did he?

So are you going to make the case why the OP needs to drop 350 on a motherboard to do what he asked? What about the gtx580? or the i7 980? Can you make a case why that is needed to do what he asked?

The answer of course is no you can't...

You just let your fingers make a fool out of yourself again while I guess trying to convince yourself you were smart to spend whatever it is you spent on your rig.

The facts are that a 2 year old Dell i7 920 with a ATI 4850 can pull 70 fps running Avery-Drexel with everything maxed out...

Now considering what the OP asked it would appear just by the above fact that you haven't a clue what you are talking about concerning a Dell I7...

Ok so I was wondering how good do you think it will run with these specs on a dell xps 9100 tower?
  • Intel® CoreTM i7 930 (2.8GHz/8MB cache)
  • Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
  • 8GB Dual channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz
  • 1000GB SATA Hard Drive (Ram) (7200RPM)
  • 1024(MB) ATI HD 5670 Radeon

So let's look at the OP...

Now he didn't mention a price but I'm betting less than 1400...

Now can he build your rig for 1400?

Bottom line once again will this hardware run 2010?

Yes it will and then some...

Again reading is FUNdamental...
Again having actual experience with the subject is FUNdamental... Having a CLUE about the subject is FUNdamental...

If you had ANY experience with Dell in say the last 5 or 6 years you would have known that as well...
So are you now telling me that I don’t have any experience with upgrading Dell’s?

Who the hell said or suggested that an i7 980x or a GTX 580 was completely necessary?

Let see it, show us the i7 based Dell running Avery-Drexel with everything maxed in Trainz at high resolution with the AA turned up.

Thought you would let your fingers override your brain...:hehe:

So you paid too much for that 980/rampage/gtx580?

Because just looking at the mobo you are into it for 350.00 and the grand for the processor doesn't leave much room for memory and a video card, case, power supply, keyboard, mouse and let's not forget operating system...:hehe:

I guess math aint your strong suite either:D

So if you could build BETTER than what you have for 1400 I was right when I said you made up the signature, right?

Sorry that doesn't show much. Get out the Fraps counter and show a variety of screen shots taken at 1920x1080 or above with at least 8x supersampling AA enabled (like I have in the past here on this forum) and let's see what you get.:o

Make sure you get the whole train (or most of it ) in the screen.

Lol, I made it up -

That's when I still had the GTX 480 in with the 980X based machine. I can post some new screen shots with the GTX 580 if you like along with the other i7 (975X) build I'm running with the ATI 5870.

Just do a search for my screen shots in this forum Sherlock, :hehe: .

By the way the better (for Trainz anyway) machine that can be built for less than $1400.00 would be optioned out with Intel's new SandyBridge CPU, I'm surprised that a savvy computer hardware enthusiast such as yourself didn't know this.:hehe:

Moving the goalposts now?

You said..

Yes, he can now build something even better then what I have for less than $1400.

Now "better then what I have for less than $1400" tells me EVERYTHING I or anyone else needs to know...

I want to know just how "he can now build something even better then what I have for less than $1400." if in fact you have what you say you do?

Because as I have noted your mobo is going for 350-379, the processor is a grand and I want to know where you are gonna get your ram and gtx560, hard drives, dvd drive, case, pws and keyboard mouse and OS (you can keep the soundcard) for 20 bux? I want to get about 500 sets :hehe:

What you saw is all you get for free, higher education is expensive and you want to see fraps I can let you know where to send the cash...

I guess I could photoshop some fraps screenshots like you do to try and impress but hey, if you are serious you will show me the money and I will point you to the video...

Do a search in this forum like I said for the “goalpost” you'll find plenty of examples.

Yeah they are all “photo shoped”, do that search and see if they are “photo shoped”, “dumb de dumb dumb”, :hehe:
