Any Video card on that list will run it more than fine.

the last two in the list is the top of the line. If you want the best there are on the list then you can pick between the two. (ATI 6870 and Nvidia GTX 470)

I don't really have any option on the monitor. Maybe others would have idea.

Pretty nice overall. Trainz is very CPU-oriented so the GPU doesn't matter as much as other factors like the CPU. My fiancee has a monitor similar to the second one listed, her's is the W2240T, and it's honestly one of the only LCD/LED screens ever produced that impresses me. I find most LCDs mediocre at best in terms of color quality and accuracy, and I loathe the widescreen format. But if I didn't have my gamma tuned just right on my CRT and if that LG monitor had a better response time, I might buy one (or snatch hers, hehe! :hehe:) I'm not totally sure that the monitor you are considering is the same/similar, but if it is, buy it!

G'Day bossyman15 & RRSignal,
Thank you for the reply's, I now think I will get the 1GB Nvidia GTX460 PCI-E as it is $150 cheaper that the top Nvidia and as for the monitor I will go for 23” LG W2353V-PF 2ms HD HDMI LCD Monitor as it is similar to the one mentioned by RRSignal (going by model number) and is only $35 extra.
I think this system should be adequate for quite some time into the future and will cost a total of $1185A.
Regards
Barrie

You might try reposting in Parts & Labour Forum, more appropriate than here maybe? As for the specs have you considered the new Sandybridge CPU's? Yes I know there's been a lot of stuff about faulty chipsets but if you read up might still be worth thinking about. A lot depends on the cash you have for new system.
Just my view,
Pete

G’Day All,
I finally got my new system and it runs TS09 SP4 & TS10 SP3 as smooth as silk, the only thing that detracts from this is the stupid auto draw distance thingy.
The system is:-
Mother board ASUS M4A89GTD PRO/USB3
Processor AMD Phenom IIx4 965 3.40GHz
Memory 8 GIG (4x2gig Kingston)
Operating system WIN7 Home Premium 64 bit
Graphics ASUS NVIDIA GeForce GTX460 1gig dedicated ram
System & storage 2TB sata II
Game drive Western Digital Veloci Raptor 600gig
Monitor ASUS 22” LCD
Regards
Barrie

Barry if you have an lcd tv you can run your trainz on the tv if it is a 1080,it is unbelieveable ,
your video card should handle that .
i use a 47" philips its great
steve

My advise is go for the wide screen format display. Everything we do in trainz is in a panarama, so the more you can see from side to side, the more realistic it becomes. And as more apps come along that use a pop-up window along one side of the screen, you still can see most of the scene.

Barry if you don't mind me asking how much did you pay for the new computer ,,,why is because i build them and for a fellow trainer i would at near cost price ,so if anybody is within a 1 hour or 2 driver of the central coast NSW i would gladly build a computer for you.
maybe you will save hundreds.
Remember to have some one you know build it for you rather than a shop would be far cheaper.all parts used are new and would all have warrenty
steve

Barrie,

I don't know where you ended up purchasing your computer, but most video cards that come with brand new computers will work. Your system looks real good.

For everyone else reading these replies, I suggest looking at Costco.com if you plan on purchasing a computer package (unless you plan on building your own computer).

I just bought a new HP for around $1100 which came with a 25" monitor. Trainz looks great on it. I priced the same exact computer at HP's website and it was $300 more!!! Same goes for Dell; Costco gets such a good deal because of the quantities they order, that they are cheaper than the manufacturers price!

Asrosk MB is not the most reliable brand MB on the market. I'd stay well clear of that. But then I'd go for intel CPU as that is what software seams to be optermised for nowdays.
Faster
Seams you have put together a system that will run fine until it fails
I hope it lasts for years for you

get a better board from a better maker. get a better computer
The monitor... Get as big as you can possibly afford
cause big is better
Cooling Fan Genuine AMD Boxed Cooling you mean the fan the CPU comes with :-)
memory that brand is hum well I don't use it
What point is there to getting intel approved memory for an AMD system :-)

I don't why you'd say that about an ASUS motherboard? I've had really good luck with mine. It has been rock solid and very stable compared to the EVGA mobo I had before, which turned into a POS.

English maybe not your main language EVGA and AsRock are POS as you say.
And gremlin1812 JCitron has just given you the name of a good maker.

JCitron Read the message before you reply Asrock and Asus are 2 different compinies :hehe:
