loco speed limits

Hi All
Is there a way to limit an indiviual loco's speed, ie if I have a fast Main line (100mph) can I programme a loco to have a top speed of say 50mph over this section of track ? I've tried changing the "top speed" in the loco's config file but it does nothing and the loco will still race up to 100mph. Any help appreciated, thanks

The max speed parameter in the locos enginespec only applies when you are driving in DCC mode. To effect speed in Cab mode you have to alter other parameters. Read through this thread http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?t=5600

Hello PJ......I have used some of Britain's invisable markers, such as 050MPH INVISIBLE, kuid 142454:23010, but it will affect all locos, not just one. If you use one, remember that it does not take affect until AFTER THE LAST CAR has past it. It took awhile for me to figure out how it worked. I keep thinking that once the loco went past it, it would take affect. The problem with this is if a 200 car freight train is followed by a single engine, they will both max out at 50 at the same point. This is not acceptable. I am sure someone will guide us both to the proper procedure. There must be another way.
