Lets predict Trainz 2011

I am not asking to be a judge of Trainz videos ... I would just like to see ALOT more Trainz videos, and especially 09/10 videos ... if I see alot of high quality videos, I will upgrade to TS2010 myself.

I always thought Trainz, with the right content, could look every bit as good as RS. That was even before 09/10. What is in the box has been around for quite some time and some is pretty dated.

The AI and signaling are great but in actual train handling, it's a wash with RS. I get the same snooze factor in both so keep MSTS loaded for that reason. While each release of Trainz may bring small changes, train handling hasn't changed at all. Actual game play is no different to me. They made a good start with the TC series but decided to put emphasis on pretty. That is subjective if they accomplished that or not.

I would like to see 2011 tackle train handling and physics. Combine that with how easy it is to use and in place AI and signaling they would attract people from other sims in droves. I'll trade all this supposed better content for more realistic train handling all day. The only pretty I would like to see is in better track laying tools for more realistic curves without the need for templates and could we finally get realistic looking and operating turnouts. This is a train simulator after all, tracks are a part of that.

Until then it's just the same old basic game with a different shade of lipstick slapped on it every year. It's great fun to build in but boring to operate past a model railroad, which I use it for.

Hi Everybody.

With all due respect to the above posting it is an established fact that videos of almost anything can be edited to make the subject look good or bad. Anyone only has to look at some countries with single party or dictatorship government news bulletins to have proof of that.

With the above in mind, I therefore find it difficult to see how any video of a train simulator could offer conclusive proof that the product was either good or bad as it seems that is what cascaderailroad is looking for.

The opening poster on this thread asked what we thought Trainz 2011 should contain and look like. That would seem to be a very reasonable question and topic given that 2010 has now been in existence for well over six months.

Like me many who own 2010 and post on these forums have stated that they find it a good advance on previous versions with far more realism in the running of A1 Trainz. The graphics are most definitely better and on my system it seems to operate much smoother than even TC3 which was my previous favorite version. Others who own 2010 would disagree (they appear to be a minority on the forums) but all have stated their views for other forum readers to judge.

Therefore, with the greatest respect to cascaderailroad and others, there is only one way they are going to find out further whether it's good or bad or if they would like it or not, and that is to purchase 2010 and try it for themselves. It's exactly the same as the holiday hotel swimming pool. You pook your toe in the water to test the temperature and then either dive in or walk away.

After all, if there is to be a release of Trainz 2011 it may not be that far away and then we shall we discussing that and creating an even greater divide with those who have not upgraded to the later versions.

I hope there is a new release as I want to see my true 3-D version of Trainz. But I don't think we will get that far in one leap.

I agree with this 100%, Dave. The problem is finances though. In order to bring this very wanted, and sometimes badly needed changes to the program, the organization needs the cash and revenue stream to do it. This is not saying that I wouldn't like to see these changes, and this is why I support Auran in their efforts to improve the product.

The older content that they have included should be updated to the latest specifications. This serves two purposes in my opinion. The first is to eliminate the errors in the built-in content so that it works properly within the program rather than mask the errors from view. The way they go about it now is like hiding rotten clapboards on a house by putting plastic siding over them rather than replacing the boards. Now the second good thing that comes out of this is the configuration files and the content format will be correct for future builders to duplicate. The only difference now is the content should adhere to the standards set down be the CCG, and be error free.

did I miss an announcement somewhere? What compensation other than public adulation was ever promised? And even the adulation was sometimes rather faint but I'm not complaining. I create and share because I like to.
Where did you get your crystal ball or do you have a direct line to the inner sanctum at Auran?

Where is your sly remarks regarding others who know what TS2011 will have incorporated? Others seem to have the inside scoop well above mine (must have one huge crystal ball)!

Hi Everybody.

From the tone of your posting you have obviously lost all faith and interest in Auran and the Trainz simulator. Therefore can I with the greatest respect for everything you have done in the past suggest that you do as you stated you have done and move on.

If you look through the forums postings over the last few weeks you will see a large number of Members enquiring as to how they learn to make content (some are already putting their first creations on the CMP). Therefore others will come forward to replace those like yourself in content making whether that be freeware or payware.

Again with the greatest of respect, I note that you state that you have left Auran and trainz behind, but obviously you still read the forums so you at least must retain some interest in your previous hobby.

Again thanks for everything you have done in the past, and the best for the future

Bill

WITH ALL DUE RESPECT, If I choose to read the forum, or if I choose to comment, or if I choose to return is MY Decision and not yours. As for other creators replacing me, that is irrelevant as is most of your comment to the subject matter of this post. My original comment was consistent with the subject matter and relevant forum members comments at that time, and also closely tied to content creation whereas I have moved on for the time being.
I made a critical error whereas I went from hobby to business within the hobby damaging my enjoyment. It will heal overtime, I am sure.

On both accounts, the mud slinging is out of control anymore and also the inability to stay on topic..

So in other words, words, words, long drawn out paragraphs of lengthly excuses, you yourself, and others, can't post any quality Trainz videos ... and I too like all the others should dive right in headfirst without checking the water depth first.

Where are all the videos ?

With regard to the above quote from mcguirel, I sincerely apologize for any offense I may have caused to that person. However, I did go out of my way in that posting to express my respect for his views and position as I do with every posting I put on these forums. I was certainly not mudslinging or flaming him/her for the posting.

I am sure it has been noted by myself and other members of the forum that a number of content creators have decided to move on recently due to the removal of support for earlier versions of Trainz. I am sure I would speak for everyone who has downloaded their content for use in their own routes our genuine and sincere thanks for all they have done.

It may be that as in mcguirels case they may decide after a period of reflection to return to Trainz, this forum and content creation. If that is the case I am sure they will be genuinely welcomed back by everyone who uses this simulator for their pastime or hobby. With special regard to mcguirels comments I certainly hope that he\she does return as I understand that the contribution he\she has made to the Trainz simulator in the past has been enormous. If you have made mistakes then just put them behind you and move on from where you are, hopefully within this community

However, whatever everybody chooses to do one thing is certain that Auran and the Trainz simulator will move on. It will evolve. New faces will come forward within the forum, within content creation and within Trainz new users. That's how everything works, for better or worse.

As for myself and others going off-topic at times, it is often due to bit of humor which judging by the state of the world around us and the often flaming and disrespect of members views that goes on in this forum I don't think that is out of place on occasions.

Bill

I have seached the 09/10 threads and have found very few videos ... on Youtube they are all lackluster.
Continue not buying TS2010 and your problem is solved. :)

As you are looking for a professional level of simulation, I suggest trying one of the companies that provide simulators for driver training.

Might cost a bit more than £30 quid though.

Why do you think that anybody would want to spend the time and effort just to produce videos for you. It makes no difference to anybody on this forum whether you buy 2010 or not. The only person that it affects is you.

Therefore I think you've got just about all the views, comments and videos you are likely to get on the subject, so it's make your mind up time because without a doubt "you ain't likely to get nothing else"

Bill
:(

What makes you think that these videos would be solely for my benifit ? It would benifit the entire Trainz community to see the progress that TS2010 is making. I and thousands of others would say: WoW..."look at that", and run right out and upgrade to TS2010.

But the forum attitude lately is 14 y/o mentality, "I'm not going to do anything" ... so do nothing and no one will ever know how great TS2010 is.

I could post some TRS2006 videos myself ..but I am busy downloading and backing up assets before September comes ... priorites first.

I presume you all are ironing out the glitchs and solving problems with TS2010 and are too busy to post videos.

I don't see anybody else asking. If they did the answer would be the same " it all out there already videos, reviews and members postings on these forums"

As stated its make your mind up time. So why not just get on with it instead of dragging everybody so far off-topic with your particular I want, I want.

:'(

I didn't need anyone else to make my mind up for me.

I did the adult thing, made a decision and bought TS2010.

I never take any notice of reviews anyway, either by journalists or forum members.
IKB.

I think that's what we all did IKB. You make your mind up, pay your money and then get on with it.

It's like everything you buy, you either like it or you don't but the only way you will find out is to buy and try.

I suppose some people have problems making any decisions.
