lego207's Work/Silver Lines

maybe you can make up locoless and cabooseless consist templates to your website using all of those 1970s cars?

Maybe you could stop asking for everything you see?
If only...

Mmm, backstory. See, this is why I don't get anything done.

Still, though, just messin' around with some random stuff in surveyor.

Gotta smooth out that ground still, but you know.. Loving the angle on this one.

A return to the electrics will happen soon™. Most likely a new area, for once.

Do you know if there's any way I could get Attachment Point Maker and other Trainz utilities on my Mac?

Not natively, that's for sure. I attempted to get the mesh viewer working, and it.. kinda worked. I could see a locomotive but no textures, then it flat out broke.

The only way to try to get those to work is to use Wine / Winebottler. They can open .exe files (OS X will not do that without third party programs) in a Wrapper form. Or use Bootcamp / Parallels with a copy of Windows to run those programs. I attempted mesh viewer using Parallels and it kind of worked... http://i.imgur.com/F3KD6Fy.png

tl;dr idk maybe

May I ask, is this in T:ANE, because it does not look like that in 12

Of course. This is in TSMac 2 / TS12. T:ANE is a nightmare, so I refrain from using it. I believe Mac 2 has some additional bits 'n bobs that TS12 doesn't, stuff like a few extra shadows here and there, bellsound only for lead locomotive, etc..

Eh, I respectfully disagree with that, but whatever. Theres not much of your routes that don't work in TANE now regardless. But, its your choice of course. I think you'll like the ability to color the water whatever you want, and so much more control over ambient light..... I don't recall if you used POFIG or McGuirel's trees, but McGuirel's updated all of her stuff to have representation in TANE at least.

Probably the next update will be the friendliest so far to try to transfer at this point if you're curious to try it.

Good Luck,

Plain and simple, it does not even run. Constant crashes and extremely low framerates make it impossible to get anything working. It is a true nightmare. Broken game that is a huge failure. Sorry, but patches ain't saving this thing this time.

Already doable.
and so much more control over ambient light.....
I don't see much any difference from TS12/Mac 2, myself.
I don't recall if you used POFIG or McGuirel's trees, but McGuirel's updated all of her stuff to have representation in TANE at least.
Pofig's are what I use and are the only ones that I can find that look especially good. While the mcguirel trees look fine and all, the only freeware ones are huge on polys, dropping my framerate even further than T:ANE already does. I'm aware the payware versions have less polys and are better and all, but right now payware isn't something I can do a lot of - especially for trees. Also, routes are freeware, so freeware assets only is my way of doing things. Can't use payware or donationware, period.
Probably the next update will be the friendliest so far to try to transfer at this point if you're curious to try it.
The only thing to make it "friendly" in my eyes, which by all means it does not look to be the case, is to optimize the game properly, which N3V evidently is unable to do. I should be able to run T:ANE with very low settings if it was optimized properly, however this is not the case clearly. I can run TSMac 2 with full sliders pretty well... really tells you they screwed up. You shouldn't need a super computer to run this thing.
Besides, trying to get any of my projects in that full fledged disaster just results in faulty items that refused to be fixed. I've had plenty of textures just quit on me and refuse to work because of some faulty error that isn't the usual .tga-.texture problem or whatever. No pofig trees work. For no reason on this earth will I move into T:ANE. It is awful and will never be up to par. N3V screwed up, big time.
N3V's actions lately have shown their true colours. They don't look at all like they can do anything to "fix" T:ANE, except make MORE DLC! Just what we need for our broken game! Besides, why bother moving onto a broken program being "fixed" by a broken company?
I don't need any of the typical fanboys attackin' me. Saying it runs fine on your computer is completely worthless - it doesn't on mine. Don't need to hear anything 'bout how to get this trash to run decently unless it's from our resident "Mac T:ANE Guru" as I will refer to him as I have in the past.

No more T:ANE discussion here. None, keine, żaden, никто. E N O U G H. From everyone - and that includes me.

I swear if my post gets deleted/edited because I'm speakin' my mind in my own thread I will be livid. Opinions on this forum are becoming useless since evidently anyone who has one that isn't "+1 to T:ANE" is wrong now, and being wrong means your post just gets deleted over 50% of the time. That, or you get banned. Knowing my luck and how things 'round here have been, I'll be on the next train to banville. 'Figures.

/rant.

T:ANE pisses me off. Everything about it now. 'Scuse me if I'm sounding like a total douche right now, but sometimes I just gotta rant.

No more T:ANE or N3V rants anymore on this thread. Promise y'all that much from me. Now it's up to you folks to keep it off of here. Unless we see a post from a certain special someone, I ain't givin' no response to any fanboy T:ANE arguments. I've had enough.

Cheers,
SM

Well Said Leo.

Please keep on doing what you like, your work is fantastic. Let no one try and change the decisions that you have made.

oh okay lets close the forums to make it easier to ban literally everyone k

being on a nice and safe non-ban-happy place is nice

Alright, pack it up folks, we're out.

The Silver Lines' home will no longer be here on the N3V Forums. Things here are so far south it ain't comin' back. Done with everything here for now, goodbye!

I ain't leavin' the game as a whole however... http://www.trainz.net/ Is where all my stuff will be going from now on, plus more. Direct link: http://www.trainz.net/index.php/topic/20-silver-lines-railroad-sm88s-stuff/

Trainz.net is a site by content creators, for content creators - but everyone is welcome over, just don't be rude!

Future SMWorks releases will still be placed in Freeware Announcements.

But now? Not much left to say. As far as I'm concerned, Silver Lines development will be virtually all done over at Trainz.net and no more here. There may be the occasional post here or USA pics or The Canadian Thread, and of course SMWorks Freeware, but that's about it. I will still drop updates in here once in a great while for major projects.

See y'all around!

Cheers,
SM

Haha, yeah, the now CoC is overkill IMHO. <- oh wait I have an opinion that N3V doesn't agree with I guess I'm gonna get banned or something now... tsk tsk tsk.

I managed to see whatcha posted for a split second there, though. My only UltraScenery experience was downloading a few of the speedtrees from the DLS in T:ANE, which went quite badly as I've mentioned countless times on my generally awful T:ANE experience. I have no doubt the payware versions are significantly better and could easily improve performance, but ah, like I mentioned earlier, can't do a lot of payware these days... Ah, well.

Cheers,
SM

This thread will still be updated, but just like once a month or something. idk. Here's what I've been working on.

Locomotives
SD9s & SD7s

SW1500
MVfsPOo.png

I as well have a WIP GP38-2. I plan on releasing all 4 of these locos, and giving the three shown here at least 3 numbers. The SD7s will have 5 numbers instead, however.

Rollingstock
This has been an interesting one. I hinted at it in earlier posts but never finished them.
Milwaukee Road style coaches - including Super Domes & Skytops. Silver Lines offered to pay the Milwaukee Road enough to build them 10 sets of these passenger consists, including 10 Super Domes and 10 Skytops.
4 Cars skinned: Baggage, Coach, Super Dome, & Skytop. The Sleeper is all that's missing. It'll happen later.

(The "Lines" looks a bit skewed from this angle, but that's just because of the mapping for these cars are a tad odd)

Routes

Lately I've been rebuilding the old Silver Lines Midwest, or SLM, into a much better route. Slowly approaching the yard which will see a full rebuild, the change is amazing. The old version is on the first few pages of this thread. Time for the new.

That little mini-route module thing with the grade crossing has been merged into the SLM.

Lots has been done to this route. More pictures of its state are in my thread and other threads on trainz.net.

Misc

As well as doing lots of this stuff, I have rostered up the current selection of locomotives.

Current locomotive roster:

  • SD40-2 = 3330 – 3424 (3400 – 3424 ex-MILW)
  • GP38-2 = 3300 – 3329
  • SW1500 = 3100 – 3124
  • SD9 = 3040 – 3064
  • SD7 = 3010 – 3014
  • SW1 = 2730 – 2744
  • C628 = 2890 – 2899 (ex-LV)
  • CF7 = 3270 - 3299
  • EF Class = 72 Cab Units & 12 Cabless Boxcabs, 15 Little Joes
    • EF-1 = 4 (2 Cabs)
    • EF-2 =10 (3 Cabs)
    • EF-3 = 6 (2 Cabs, 1 Cabless)
    • EF-4 = 15 (12 ex-MILW, 3 ex-CSS)
    • EF-5 = 4 (4 Cabs)
    • EF-5B = 3 (2 Cabs, 2 Cabless)
    • EF6 = 1 (2 Cabs, 2 B units)

The EF6 is a new and interesting A/B loco set. The Silver Lines has an A-B-B-A version, producing roughly 24k HP with all 4 units active. Pretty massive. It's been shown on this forum, but not in Silver Lines paint, and unnamed.

The happenings of Silver Lines continue.

Cheers,
SM
