lego207's Work/Silver Lines

Sounds like a fog horn... You can't do much railfanning at bridge 5 without hearing them, which is why I don't go there, too many boats. May I suggest you put an RS5T-RF on everything? :hehe:

Nice work, I wish I could get this far on a route...
Thanks! But, not a big fan of the RS5T, really.

IDK ... That horn sounds just right in tune with that loco ... What is it a Typhoon horn ?

It does fit well indeed. Horn is a Wabco E2; just like what the Joe's used when in service.

Cheers,
SM

Yes, it does fit, I was joking about the RS5T, it's always your choice. Seriously nice work though!

Thank you!

Okay, so stepping away from the electric route for a brief moment, I've been thinking for the past week or so about a model railroadz themed version of the route. 6 baseboards in total size with 'tables' running around all the sides of the room (minus door space) and a large 'island' in the middle. Only work is really done on the island part in terms of texturing/scenery/trackwork/etc. We'll be right back to the primary electric route later today or tomorrow; I don't want to do what I did with the SLM on this one and do extra projects and drop the main one fully. However the space covered in this amount of time is slightly ridiculous so this is a nice little break from that grind.

Early WIP, no catenaries yet.

Good start, anyway!

Can I just say that config files are literally the worst? Change a letter in the username, suddenly, everything below it becomes the username and it bugs the hell out. Then you try to fix the thing AND IT DOESN'T WORK

Pretty sure its just these stupid guys here: "" for some reason there's like a font change on the end one causing it to not recognise it and ruin everything. I don't know. I hate config files.

No really good reportable route progress right now, but, an early WIP:

The nose's grey is a bit off.. but I should be able to fix that. Question is, how many variations of this loco will I make? Too many, that's for sure. I need a new SLRR diesel. Maybe some heavy power.. SD70 or ES44? I'll have to think.

Everything in this game is pissing me off right now. EVERYTHING is an error I swear.
I'm so done right now.
Cheers,
SM

I know how you feel! Sometimes you don't change anything below what you are editing, and then it starts blathering about something like "Tag "idiot" is not permitted here" Well I guess it is, Trainz, because you are acting like one! (Not you, lego, but Trainz.)

SD70MAC. Or if you want a free engine, get the RRmods SD80MAC. You need to register for vrrmods.com though.

SD70MAC or SD50.

SD70M-2 or SD70ACE, but I'm partial to them. They're better for Grades with Drag Freight and most of your route so far is pretty flat, so honestly Macs of any derivation or -9's would meet your route requirements better. SD-80's and AC6000's I think would be a bit expensive for a shortline. I'd think you'd be looking for something from Last Decade that the Class 1's have been selling or trading. SD60's would be a good one. I could also suggest -8's, but I think alot of those are ending up being scrapped. Certainly SD45's or SD50s (50's were pretty rare) would be good candidates as well.

How prototype do want this to be?

Love the new scheme for that '40-2. I think it would look brilliant on a standard cab SD60, SD60M, or SD70M. If you want some GEs, I might suggest a C40-8 or a Super -7. That squared-off nose just lends itself really well to chevron striping, I think. :)

Well, what a response. I expected two or less responses to my need of new SLRR power. I am awful at predictions...

Anyways,

I believe we'll be attempting a C40-8W on this one. Don't have a 70MAC, the 70Ms and -9s are covered in a weathering (I assume) texture that makes distinguishing detail near impossible. The -8W has less of that than the others, and I do like the unit quite a bit. Thanks for all the suggestions! I'm sure in the future we'll see some kind of variation of most of these.

Oh, and a side note,
The SLRR is based as a Class II railroad in late 90s-early 2000s. Just for future reference!

SM

Whaz a bump map?

This little guy right here:
(bump map of the C40-8W)

And with the colorize/layer stuff added..

You may notice some of it is a bit kinda 'cloudy', especially on the lower right and the top part of the locomotive (middle of pic). The -9 is absolutely covered in that stuff to the point where I can't tell where anything is, even with a regular .tga next to it.

Oh, and I have a nice little collection of -9s & the UP 70Ms, but I have no 70MACs.

Also: Beta testers, important email sent out today.

Thread ain't quite dead...

Slowly skinning up the -8W, plus another little thing hidden currently. As for the route, not a lot. I did, however, discover some catenary that is a double tracked setup. I have been missing this the whole time. So, slowly replacing that, but also working skins and other stuffs.

New loco power coming soon™, hopefully. Only 1 person other than me knows what it is. And this time, it may be immediately releasable.
