Laying track on a DEM?

Negative examples were Royal Gorge or the Virginia and Truckee RR. The latter look like resampled 1 arc sec data.

I was wondering....

Ah, well - we recently got high - resolution visual imagery for the area; perhaps they'll update the DEM data someday as well
