Laurel Line Screenshots

Today's Daily Shot

This is a picture of the South Street crossing in Avoca Pa. The road crossing was so long that the trolleys and freight motors had to coast over the crossing because there was no contact with the 3rd rail.

how long are we talking about? could you give us a higher view? (sorry, just intrigued by that comment...i think my inner electric fan is showing)

I was just mentioning as a bit of local history about this crossing. The layout dosen't reflect that. At least I don't think it does??? The Laurel Line had very few crossings, this one was especially dangerous. The lights would go out in the trolley because it left the 3rd rail. I also don't know what affect it would have on the breaking system but it can't be good.

Crossing

Ok now that I look at the crossing I can understand the problem. The road is crossing at a very heavy angle...

There is lots of space between the 3rd rails!

aah, i wondered if that was the problem.

sorry to bother you, but i love modelling railroad crossings (i even tried to get our cat named "Railroad crossing":hehe:), probably more than anything else. the weird, the true, the freaky, that's how i like 'em.

You're not bothering me. I like when folks take an interest in something I'm working on. All questions are welcome in this thread! :D

Avoca Viaduct

Here is one of my favorite spots on the layout. I took this LV SW7 on the Laurel Line over the Avoca Viaduct. The viaduct is about the halfway point on the line. This mean I'm almost half done with this layout....NOT!

At one time, this area was a busy spot. The viaduct goes over the main lines of the Delaware & Hudson and the Lehigh Valley. In the background is the Heidleburg Coal Breaker. If I was a railfan way back when...this would be the spot I'd go to.

Dupont

Thanks for the nice replies everybody. :)

Here's the next screenshot...

South of the Avoca Viaduct is the Dupont stop. We're starting to get into more populated areas. I'm in need of many houses!

Here is an action shot from the same area as the previous picture. Placing all those houses are slowing me down!

Moving south from the last picture, this is Laurel Street in Pittston. The Laurel Line parallels to the right. The next area that I'll be working on is Pittston. This is the mid point of the line and there are many houses and industries to place. I may be working on this area for the next couple of weeks.

Productive Scott is productive.

Looks great!
I know how you feel about setting up those settlements...

Keep ´em coming.

This shows the Bulter Breaker in the background. The Area is North Pittston.

Another shot of North Pittston and the North Pittston Stop.

I like that bridge in the foreground of the last shot.

You know that there are crossings made for the YARN-splines?

:)

Does anybody remember this old friend? It's the Greenliner with a fresh coat of paint and Laurel Line logos. I updated it to work in TS2009. These trolleys will do until the new ones are made.

Hi Scott,

I see it's coming along fine. :)
Btw, that red dot in the last picture is what I meant earlier. Press on it and you should be able to see what component is the culprit. I wonder if that's the breaker we've talked about.

Greetings from cloudy Amsterdam,

Jan
