Last Try - before I forget Trainz forever!

Trainz 2010 - I am totally unable to use the Download Station. I have tried the Forum for help and I have E-mailed the helpline also. The message I currently get is (browser)" doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (Trainz) isn't associated with any programme." From what I have read I am not alone in having this problem. Does anone know of a solution? If this is a general problem which Auran are working on - could they make a general staement, please?

Have you run Content Manager Plus at least once (with administrator privileges if using Windows Vista/Windows 7) - it should register the required registry key for the trainz: addresses.

In Vista and Windows 7, you need to install the program and run the program as an Administrator. This is the same for all patch updates.

Once you do this, the program will run fine.

Also regarding the Helpdesk and Auran. Its a holiday time, they will be back on the 4th, they need a break too !!!

That would be a shame because IMHO Trainz (any version) is probably the best interactive computer based activity going. While you can consider it a game, I suggest most of us regard it as something far better.

If you able to post a message in the Trainz forum then your password and logon must be ok for DLS access. There is an option page in the start up menu for TS2010 and also a network test option in Content Manager.

I always set up my Windows logon as administrator.

Don't give up. It isn't a Trainz problem but something amiss with your system.

Good Luck
Paul

We live to fight another day!

Thanks to all who replied. Running Trainz as administrator was the answer - maybe I should have known that, but I have not had any such problems with earlier versions of Trainz. Yes, I was getting grumpy about the whole thing - but we've been under several inches of snow here for some time and I was desperate to try out the 2010 version.

Again, thanks to all for their help.

I know how you feel, we are under 2 feet of snow, it happens overnight !!!

Eventually it is cleared (or melts) and look at the bright side, it gives you another excuse to play Trainz !!

Well, it may be Auran's fault.

The fact is I download from many places and he only one that causes or gives problems is Auran. Must be something they are doing wrong.

Well, professor.....if you did your homework you'd see that the problem was resolved and the failure of the user to install as Administrator is not a case of Auran doing something wrong after all.....
