Silently Waiting
The Lange County Railroad or(LCRR) was formed in 1959 in the town of Lange the county seat. It started as a way to move goods from one side of the town to the other. The county laid rails through town and purchased rolling stock and ex Union Pacific 0-6-0 number 3478 steam locomotive to work the line. Four years later the rails reached the town of Carson Corner. Here they build and seven track "stub" yard and engine terminal. The first train to reach Carson Corner was powered by 3478. Six years later the line reached Vatenburg were an interchange was made with the Burlington Northern. In 1967 number 3478 was in a tragic accident with a Lange County passenger train they were not able to repair the orginal engine to operational standards so now it resides in a museum in Lange. By 1975 the line reached the golden fields of Murk. The Lange County operated for twenty seven more years until the BNSF bought 80% the LCRR mainline. The LCRR still operates it yards and industrial branch lines. The line uses 4 ex Cheesie and Conrail GP40's 2 ex Conrail SW1200's for motive power. This route is work in progress for Ts2010 and up.

Back to the story of LCRR in 2004 BNSF got contracts from three trucking companies wanting to move more cargoso the BNSF built an intermodal hub in Lange. The Bnsf then built an extension to the intermodal hub. The LCRR has limited access to the intremodal hub so every now and then a LCRR intermodal is spotted. In 2006 the LCRR received four ex chinese C36-7's to handle the increased amount of traffic on the line. Not much has happened to the line but August 2011 the LCRR will have atsf-bnsf inspired paint scheme. ATSF warbonnet in BNSF colors.
