Kuid # problem

...the sign man
I cloned an item and deleted every file from it and copied and pasted every file from another item to create a new version of the second item so I could keep it with the same kuid #. However the new version was assigned a new kuid and I could'nt assign the original kuid from the old version by changing the number in the .config. I deleted the original item and the second now shows the original kuid as a missing asset! :'(

Can anyone tell me if it's possible to assign the kuid from the original item into the new version?

No it is not possible. When you clone an asset, the cloned asset will be assigned with your kuid number. Copying files from the original asset into the new one won't work as when you try to commit the cloned asset, it will fail due to the new asset containing the wrong kuid number. This is pretty much it. If there's anything else I missed, can someone let me know please? Thanks! :) See ya!

The original item is on the dls. If I place the object into the download helper in the CMP and click download, will it download the original kuid and replace it? Or, I still have the original kuid version as a .cdp, could I import that?

In CMP, if you can bring up the original asset, right click, open for edit and revert to original.
