K&L and Trainz Forge - Which is better?

If I wanted to get a model that's payware, should I go with K&L or TF? Are they allies or competitors? Give me your thoughts.

Get whatever you are most interested in! No competition between us and K&L. Steve tends to focus on preserved steam and eastern roads more, while TF has more western and steam era content spanning a wider range of time. I've certainly bought my own fair share of K&L products.

Now, I might be a... little biased, but my personal recommendation from something from Trainz Forge would be the NKP Hudsons. They are the best models I have made so far, and come with lots of fun scripted features, toggles and full passenger consists.

They are great models, and so are your GS locos. I think you might have some of the greatest TF content - Freeware and Payware.

What is that steam locomotive on the very right of your sig picture daylightrain with the tall smokestack and is it publicly available? Trainz Forge has a bunch with tall smokestacks.

My guess is this one:

Well, Trainz Forge goes all in with PBR texturing, while K&L stays with more simpler texturing. K&L still makes their new models as detailed and sharp as possible, but they have more of a matte finish as opposed to the shiny PBR textured models of Forge. But the big thing is they both have their own plans for what they want to model, and it just depends on what models you are looking for...

I have no biases towards these two

But if you ask me I'll say K&L is definitely the more "premium" of the two. As they should be being payware and all.
Compatibility is also unrivalled, your K&L will work in TS12 but if you decided to upgrade to T:ANE or TRS19 in the future your K&L will transfer and Still work!
Quality control and consistently is also A+

"They look good and runs well" is my sum up for K&L

But Trainz Forge on the other hand isn't bad but the quality of the content can rage significantly due to different content creators having different still level and experience.
And compatibility is well...
Okay if your someone who owns TRS19 you won't have an issue
But as someone who's stuck with Trainz 2009 SP4 (3.3)
I've always been miffed that such a pretty and awesome looking locomotive is locked to T:ANE or TRS19. Since the mesh format is ".TRAINZMESH" I cannot backdate them! (Changing the "trainz-build" number to 2.9, 3.0, 3.1, 3.2, or 3.3) unlike TS12 Models which still uses ".IM"
Quality control is average not great not terrible no corrupted files
"Good models, butmaybe not for me" is sum up for Trainz Forge
