I don't really see any connection between N3V scrapping DRM and them stopping suport for Trainz. Honestly, I think DRM is a big mistake for N3V becuse in the past, implementations of DRM have gone horribly wrong. The fact that a company can access your computer and bypass encryption is horrifying. Imo, DRM is highly invasive. As far as I see it, Trainz would be much, much better without it.
