Just for fun : Trainz Theory

Here's what I created After I analyzed Trainz community
I call it Trainz Theory:hehe:

1. All reskinners and route builders originate from some point
2. Some great reskinners and route builders evolve into 3D Mesh Creators
3. Gimme Pigs are the lowest possible rank, however, they can evolve to route builders and reskinners
4. Some reskinners and route builders gather and form a group of content creation
5. All Content Creators have mid - high end computers with few exceptions
6. Some Content Creators rising above the others get greater respect from the community
7. Most Asset Creators are serious, with exception of few people

If you have a theorem, then post on this thread

I'm a firm believer in firm beliefs, so my theory is that your theory is (theoretically) a theory. Point 2 is inaccurate, reskinners, route builders, and session creators ARE content creators, since what they create is content. Difference with 3D model makers is they're all rocket scientists.

That's a questionable question, is the engine or transmission more important? Not gonna get anywhere without both. Theoretically. :hehe:

I can argue Point 5. I'm on a low-end laptop. 4GB RAM (upgraded from 2) 2.00GHz processor and integrated graphics card/chip/whatever-it-is.

And before you say I'm not a content creator, look on the DLS. :)

But the others are stable statements.

Just my 5 cents, as Aussie currency omitted the 2 and 1 cent coins before I was born. :)

Looks Legit...Sounds Legit...Must Be Legit!

I know you are a content creator, but I have a laptop that is generally same spec as yours but still runs Trainz at 30~45 fps

There will be exceptions, just like there are exceptions to any rule, but this theory looks solid to me.

The pecking order though reminds me of dogs in a pack.

That one gets down to where you draw the line - minimums call for a Pentium D 3.4ghz, recommended is a core 2 duo, I remember reading a post by one guy with a 990 terrahertz dream machine considered his a "mid range" system, presumably because he saw faster computers when he stole that one from Doctor Who's Tardis. I'd call what you got there high end rather than mid range, simply because it's (theoretically!) a lot more than Trainz should need.

It reminds me of my chickens. :)

And would people call the specs I posted above mid-range? Because if so, then Statement 5 is legitimate too.

Yup and my parrots too. :) Woodstock was the leader, then his GF Julia was the second in command, and finally Jessie and Bobo even though Bobo was the oldest. Woody's personality was such that all the other birds listened to him, so he was nominated the leader of the pack. Sadly, all have passed away except for Julia. Her new BF Barney is there, but not the same for her. :( Bobo died from cancer. Woody and Jessie had a respiratory illness they got from the pet shop they came from. It's not the same as the old crowd.

Anyhow, I would say your specs are probably average. Not everyone is at the high end. drchoi21 has a high end desktop similar to mine. The only difference between our machines is the video card. I have the GTX680 instead of the GTX670.

I would be interested in knowing what video chip you have built-in on your laptop. I do know the Intel version doesn't always play well with Trainz.

The old Rock'n Roll song keeps going through my head. "The leader of the pack..."

Hi John,

I have an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4500/5100 series, to copy what DirectX Diagnostic Tool says.

I think it's about time we got back on topic. :)
