I'v just bought Trainz12, down loaded 5 downloads.
Launched the program, done all the sign in and patches but there's nothing in tutorials or routes.
In fact there's nothing in any thing.
Do I need to do anything else.
The menu page tells me its out of date but I've loaded in the patches from the forum.
Any idea's.
Thanks,
ed.

Welcome to the forums.

Regarding routes, look for a yellow star at the top of the page - if it's there, click it.

Regarding tutorials, if it's not appearing, you will need to do an extended database repair in Content Manager - click Content on the Launcher, then click File followed by Extended Database Repair.

I would also advise you to install any available content updates - click Content Updates on the main screen, then Download All, then Download All in the smaller box that appears.

P.S. If your build (5-digit number on the Launcher) is less than 58414 then technically it's still out of date but a lot of users are not patching beyond 49922 due to problems with TS12 SP1.

Hi Shane,
I could get in to the tutorials and routes but now when I click on start it just tells me its out of date.
The only option is to exit out of game.
Gone from bad to worse.
Thanks,
ed.

That's a different story. You should still be able to enter the game by clicking No on the patch available box if it appears. If that's not possible for some reason, can I ask exactly what is coming up on the screen? (If you want to use screenshots, these need to be uploaded to a photo-sharing site in order to show here).

Shane

No, all I have is the main menu with start, options, content, manual, website, extras forum and quit.
If I click on start, on the full screen that appears at bottom left tells me its out of date with a link to the forums, and the only other option is top left 'MENU' and the only way out is to click on end game on the drop down.
No 'NO' on patch available box as there is no box just a link to the forums to up date.

OK - if that's the case, the message can be ignored at this point in time as long as the build on the Launcher is 49922. If there are no buttons showing on the main screen, you need to do an extended database repair as I mentioned above.

Shane

OK - you will need to install a couple of patches to get to 49922.

First one is http://download.ts2009.com/patch/46957_to_48249.exe, and the second one is http://download.ts2009.com/patch/48249_to_49922.exe.

Download both of them to a folder - the Desktop is a good place for this.

Run the 46957_to_48249.exe file first, making sure that Trainz is not running. In total, it should not take more than 45 minutes to install both patches (one at a time - do not try and run both at the same time).

Once this is done, it may still say your version is out of date, but I do not advise you to install any patches above 49922 due to problems with the later patches.

Well that did not take long.
The first down load had a long error but I could not copy or save the error but it kept down loading and at the end said no errors.
Second down load went through ok.
Now I can get back to the start and in to the tutorials and routes screens but no content in either.
Build 49922

Now you've done the patching as far as 49922, you need to run an extended database repair. Instructions for that are in my original reply to you.

OK thats done, where do I find content update.?
I'm looking in the Content manager but can't see it.
OK found it,
no updates.

Hi Shane,
Is there something else I should be doing.?
Everything is working as in menus etc but still no routes or tutorials.
Nothing in railyard either.
Thanks,
ed.

That's concerning. You should have a list of routes under Routes, and some locomotives/rolling stock in tutorials.

What build number is showing on your Launcher?

Shane

That's interesting then. By the sounds of things, something may have gone wrong during the patching stage that did not cause an abort.

A screenshot or two may help here - use the Print Screen button, then look in <trainz install folder>/UserData/screenshots for the .jpg files, which you will need to upload to a photo sharing site like HostThenPost or ImageShack in order to post it here.

Hi Shane,
Thinking to myself that there has to be something missing with the install.
So I decided to uninstall and re install the program.
The first install took about 15 hours but this install took about 1 1/2 hours and every thing seams to be working fine now.
I updated with those 2 patches so I see how things go.
I want to install another DMU so I'll have a go at that tomorrow but thanks for your help today.
Thanks,
ed.
