Joining Muiltyplayer on weekends

I would like to know how many people are finding it imposable to join a Multiplayer session on the weekend. I have not been able to join in the last three. It seems to stop around 8 PM Friday. The game just sits there saying it is joining but never does. The session is up and running since Oct 20 but I do not see anyone playing on the weekends.

A common occurrence with the REQUIRED YET UNSTABLE REQUIREMENT of TS12 Multiplayer - Main reason why it is massively failing...............

Don't hold back, just tells what you think.

Carl, I haven't been able to join on the weekends either. This makes the third week in a row.

I put in a help desk ticket about this here is what I got back.

Can you please tell me what build number your installation of Trainz has? The build number can be found on the bottom right corner of the launcher screen. Please ensure that you have downloaded and installed the latest updates for your build of Trainz. You can find the latest updates here: http://www.auran.com/servicepacks/

Can you please try running the network diagnostic tool in Content Manager. This is done by first opening Content Manager, then clicking on 'file', then on 'network diagnostic'. Once the network diagnostic has completed, please click on 'details', then copy and paste the results into a reply to this ticket.

Can you also please tell me which version of Windows you are running?

I have joined during the week, but at the moment no MP games show up for me - it just continues searching.

Took about 2-5 minutes before the sessions showed up.

Tried to join both the N3V server for Debrechen as the UMR session. Waited about 10-15 minutes each without success.

TS12 build 58414.

I had trouble getting in to any MP session last weekend. Just prior to the weekend when I did get in to UMR the entire route had no trees. After the weekend I had no trouble getting in and sometimes all was normal then toward the middle of the week again no trees.

I haven't been able to connect to that MP session in ages. I have the correct game build and have downloaded everything. I can create my own just fine. I tried joining last night before bed and when I woke up 8 hours later it was still trying to join D:

So next they ask me for a Network Diagnostic, 4 days after the problem "went away". That's useful to see if I can connect now, but not what was happening then. So I am running the diagnostic right now, and gee guess what, the only error is at the bottom.

I got 0/0 on the test. I'm still stuck on joining. I'm going to create my own. See if anyone can join.

I need someone to bring me logs and flats!

This right here is a really good argument for changing the way MP is handled. Rahter then relying on a server some place, why not have direct connections. Some thing like what Run8 dose where you type in the host IP and join.

Change it so the server browser shows you what sessions are available, then when you join, rather then go through the N3V servers it goes right to the host. Right now the system works as such: Data comes from your computer and goes to N3V's servers. Then it goes to the host computer. Then it goes back to N3V, then back to your computer. This means that a packet of data has to make lots of stops before getting to where it needs to go, meaning more chances for it to get lost. Especially with how reliable N3V's servers seam to be.

Id say have the host only send their connection data to the N3V server, then when a player looks and the sever browser they see what they see now. But when they go to join rather then relying on a connection with N3V. This way its the same as a direct connection, but has the ease of a server browser.

The Data Center Connection to N3V is all configured wrong. Remember, the Data Center is just a Bridge Connection (Data Pass-Thru). The structure of the MP Connection Requirements do not work and also because of lack of CRC Error Checking is reason for Ghost Trains and Missing Consists. They need to work on TS12 MP Patch ASAP and create a stable data routing setup ASAP. Only thing keeping me interested in Trainz. Run8 MP is becoming very attractive but the game is very lacking graphics wise thus my hesitation.

I've had 2 people join my session today yet I can't join Lewis and they were one of them. I like playing on Lewis's because the game stays up for days :-!

I agree. This lack if reliable servers is really killing my interest in further development of MP sessions. As for Run8, it dose have some good graphics. Yes the tree's and scenery are low poly. But the locomotives are up there with JR in features and quality. You also have to remember that Run8 is built by 3-4 guys in their spare time. Unlike N3V, which according to Linkedin.com, has between 11 and 50 people working on any project at a given time. Factor in that Run8 is only a year old, while both Trains and Railworks are much older. (Trainz is 11 having started in 2002 and Railworks started back in 2009.)

My interest in completing my version of FMR and Little River has decreased significantly because of the past three weeks of Multiplayer Connections Issues and the total disregard of N3V and there Data Centers in resolving the issues once and for all.
This shows to me N3V lacks any initiative to support their current customer base and provide the reliable means to enjoy Multiplayer as N3V deemed it to be set up which I feel they have found to be a very wrong approach.

The Server is down so much latley that is why I'm not on any more and why I don't think i'll be with trainz/N3V anylonger.
I have finley lost interested in trainz, but in a week or so I'll be back on Team Speak with my friends.
