Joining Forces for a PRR DEM from Phila to Pittsburgh

I have Mount Union to Johnstown, NantyGlo, Philipsburg, Claysburg a huge 5 county area ... I seek from Johnstown to Pitcairn, and Pitcairn to Conway, and Mount Union to Marysville.

Marysville (Harrisburg) to Reading is on Checkrail (misslabeled Haggerstown), but it lacks alot of the mainline from Highspire to Phila

A one piece DEM route, Rockville to Galitzin would be hard on most PC's, and you would want to include Harrisburg & Enola yards as a starting point ... to Pitcairn, as it was at one time the major classification yards of the PRR (prior to the building of Conway yard) ... so Enola/Harrisburg, to Pitcairn would be an excellent running scenario.

If the DEM is readable in 06 format ... I could help ... If the DEM is in 12 format that will totally cut out 06, 09, 10 users ... Harrisburg to Johnstown may be a bit too long of a route, unless you trim down a couple thousand baseboards.

I go along with your thinking with the freeware concept also ... and I will help you ... My plan was to keep it in 06 format, so that 04 users could possibly backdate my DEM ... and 06 users could use it ... and 09, 10, 12 users could install it in their versions.

I will be modifying my DEM substantially, adding on more features, and areas ... It is such a huge job, that is why I started this thread.

You will be the first to get my WIP DEM

In fact if you get Free Skype I could send it to you ... I could use a beta tester, and a route building partner to test it out in TS12 (as well as other 04, 06 09, 10 users)

So is this the same dem, or a brand new one? And are you still working with portals to link up larger routs. I would like to know if this is even possible.? What is the size of your route now as to the testing for TR12?:D

Matt

I will let you know as soon as I get things trimmed down, and apply iPortals.

A route that goes from Harrisburg/Enola to Johnstown (let alone all the way to Conway) is just too big in MB, and in hundreds of thousands of baseboards ... unless you delete every baseboard that is more than 3 baseboards away from the tracks.

It will be from:

Harrisburg/Enola to Huntingdon
Huntingdon to Bellwood
Bellwood to Johnstown
Johnstown to Pitcairn
Pitcairn to Conway
Cresson to NantyGlo
Cresson to Philipsburg
Tunnelhill to Petersburg (Muleshoe Curve)
Wopsononock RR (Juniata to Dean)

And eventually:
Tyrone to Williamsport

I am concentrating from Huntingdon to Johnstown primarily ... and then when that WIP is done, I'll work on from Harrisburg/Enola to Huntingdon ... then what ever after that (in my next lifetime)

What time period are you working too? Are you also doing all the yards and branch lines. Seems like a lot of content wound be needed for such a large project. Especially for Enola and Harrisburg.

I work with blank gray baseboards, and concentrate on track only.

If an interlocking, or signal bridge was at a location from 1850 to 1970 ( and was later torn out and no longer exists), it will be shown on my route. Altoona once had plans for a huge station with many tracks ... I just may add that too (even though after WWII ended, and Altoona slipped into bankruptcy and disrepair, and the extravagant station track expansion was canned forever). If there were PRR semaphores in Trainz, I would be replicating that era.
