Jersey (Channel Islands)

Work is going quite well on my current route, kind of an extended version of the current Swindon and Cricklade operation and should be ready for release around the end of April.

Thoughts turning to the next project, always being on the lookout for something a bit offbeat I was thinking of doing a modern day version of one or both of the routes which used to run on Jersey. (It's either that or the Bermuda Railway... ). A quick search reveals no discussion of the Jersey (CI) Railways on the forum so I'm assuming no-one else has done or intends to do it, as I wouldn't want to conflict with anyone elses's work.

Vern,

These sound like interesting projects. What is the history behind these? I am not familiar with the Jersey Railways. Other than the Central Railroad of New Jersey or the New Jersey Southern. :-)

Both short lines in a fairly compact area but with good looking scenery, done as a modern version (had the lines survived) one might be done as a transit/tramway type operation and the other as a heritage railway. My creative "mojo" will get to work on that aspect.

Current project loosely based on this:

But somewhat extended so it comes in at around 14 miles in length.

Visited Jersey in mid-march and did a little research. Information on the stations appear on disused stations

That's an invaluable site, along with Forgotten Relics of course. Hopefully it should be possible to bolt together the OS Map extracts and reference in Transdem, as there doesn't seem to be any other readily available (free) source for CI OS Maps, either current or historical.
