Hirochi again well done, those shinkansen bridges and tunnels can be of great use for my future projects but currently I can only use your tunnel om my modeltrainz map.

TheNicofabi: an bit late but welcome to the forums, nice progress on your route already and am looking forward to future progress.

Now I made some progress again on my own modeltrainzmap last 2 weeks, From the start I also wanted an small tramline driving on the map but couldn't figure out where to put it, I finally have been able to find an nice place for it, you can see it in the following pics together with the finedetailing which is complete on these sections.

stunning beautiful!! you even made use of the JP level crossings to boot!! guess I now have a reason to go pick up the tram tracks and stations now. LOL!!
So you plan on putting up some background wall paper or will you leave the walls bare? Also will there be anywhere to run container trains on the layout?

Nice interior shots Hirochi and marinemania

I suppose it would be out of the question to make this layout work in TS2009 SP1, isn't it?

cmoehrle: The route is currently made in ts12sp1, when I am finished I can test it on ts2009, I don't expect much problems (can't say yet) since the mayority of items are from keimei/hirochi/kenichiro which worked well in ts2009 (was sp4 trough), speedtrees and builtinitems might be an problem but with a new era coming auran might make all builtin items of ts12 public.
I prefer to keep the route like it is but I could make an seperate version for ts2009, it depends on the amount of problems I face when testing ts2009.

Railshuttle: I haven't trought about using background but since the trains drive trough 4 different walls I wouldn't be able to use it much so I don't know if I use them, I might put some other objects on the brickwalls like I did with my custom made cabinet which I showed some time ago.
For containerfreight I have an small containerdepot planned on one of the 2 still empty locations on my route, in the future I plan to make an dock area where containers could be picked up and dropped at the small containerdepot, you can see the location in the next picture.

I now show how the route looks like in it's current state on the minimap, I still have to finedetail the east section + some sections from center so still enough left to do.

Testing my video capabilities

No new screenshot, just a test video I uploaded on to YouTube, I am playing around with screen2avi and audacity.

In the mean time I am currently working on all the DLS Japan routes and figuring out how to distance each route and what to put in between each. I am confirming that this route I'm slaving away at is a Kiha/Steam Concentrated route. However I am going to make sure that the southern end will have electrification for anyone who is willing to work on an expansion for the route in the future.:) When that route is ready and I have a new CPU and more RAM in the PC I'm working on, then I'll upload the video of the route progress. My computer cannot do a whole lot on 2.5 GB of RAM, at least not with today's software.

First... @acelaamtrak
Daumn... just seeing the map of your model route is just soooo AWSOME!...

and now second...
I indeed have done a new video... though not about the Jakken Ja prefecture... yes... its about my 4th route i started (dont hit me pls) since i am still working out on how to build fictional routes efficently but no reason to panic, Jakken Ja prefecture will continue... but probably when i have more time... >_> though i wonder where i got the time for this one...

Well thanks... though i never thought i do that much different from the other...

Well it was interesting how you build the straight track elements and connected them. I never used that method. Also I never use the rulers. So this was interesting in several ways mostly for future projects.

I have reached a release candidate for Electro Island 2.0. and I am in the process of releasing it. I let you all know when its going up on the Download station.:)

Well... i tend to use the straight stuff so its actually straight and so that i dont have to look at it a couple of dozen times to see if it is actually straight... and well its helping with symetrics so... its a nice way of building that...
Also YEAH! already so hyped for your 2.0 :D

And... for the fun part... you guys probably have a post of my every day now... since i seem to always have a spare hour to make a video and then process it while doing the importent stuff... so... here... have part 2 :3 (also on days like saturday and sunday you are possibily getting 2 vids instead of just one... and also my videos are mostly from the day before so ... its actually way further then in the video you seen)

"Snip". Also I never use the rulers. "Snip".

Wait Pagroove, you've never used the rulers? I can tell you they are very useful especially on those routes when you want precision as close to the prototype. I have done this on a project that is currently on Hiatus because it is just way to big to be done for fun in a short time.

Yeah... the ruler is actually quite handy... i am mostly just using it for knowing in what range i have to place the station to have it kinda fitting to reality...

station distance averages

I do have to ask, what is the average distance between stations? On the Tokaido Mainline run by JR east for their limited express, I've estimated about 15-30 km between each station at speeds of 50-110 kph depending on the track geometry.

Well... i dont even know if my average are accurate... but in citys its mostly about 300m - 1.2km and country sided its 3km+... but all this i mostly only took from playing Densha De Go!

Edit[07.03.2015|15.45pm(GMT+1)]
dont mind ^ that but eh... well Part 003 and 004 are now up and good to view... actually with those two videos i finished basically the City area for that Line...

I have good news. Today I was able to Upload Electro Island 2.0. to the DLS. It is now in the processing area so it will be probably up early next week (depending on if the announced maintenance by Auran is also affecting the DLS).

I feel relieved. After working so long on my layout it feels great to have it now in a releasable form. Beware that this is a big one. I will probably start an Electro Island 2.0. support and screenshot thread after or just before it is up.

The layout comes with 4 sessions. I will provide instructions later and do a 'whats new on the Japanese lines' scoop here in this thread.

I had to go through 1410 content updates today before able to sign of error free. Which took me the whole day. The proces went faster when I found out that you could check the updates on items that where the dependencies of this route. Because Outside of this route I still have 7210 content updates waiting, But these are items that are not used in my route. ;).

EDITED TO ADD. Fun fact. Version 1 was released exactly 1 year ago also on the 8th of March I see now by doing a forum search. So it took me exactly 1 year to this update :)

Also! I kinda finished the Passenger/Main Track Layer for the Alpha version... with arround 18km i think... (not sure) and now there is only going to be some more industry placement and then i gonna start with landscaping and after that... i just say hello to the hard part of placing enviroment...
