It goes black

Why does the locomotive I'm trying to repaint turn all black? I used a texture from another loco and that loco turned black. I used a texture from the west side lumber shay.

As you haven't given much by way of an explanation, I'm going to take a guess that you aren't unchecking the RLS compression box when you save your new texture.

Now when I download any new thing, it is black. If I download or edit anything that loco goes black. What's going on here????

Problem with some graphics cards.
Content Manager > File > Settings > Miscellaneous > Remove tick from Enable hardware compression > save.

Then open each affected item for edit and then commit.

Hardware compression on or off does not affect the Simulator, just speeds up the committing process.
