ISO Routes 50 Miles Or Longer

Hi Fellow Forum Members,

I started with Trainz last week and today I downloaded 2 routes and both routes were under 10 miles or so (SP Los Angeles and Colorado Inspiration). Can some of you Trainz veterans let me know what routes are longer than 50 miles or longer. Also, The route needs some good detail as well.

I am also starting to get annoyed by seeing the red and green arrows at the switches and the names. Is there a way to turn that off?

Thanks in advance....

Eaglefan

My Ozark Valley is 80 miles long.

My Miyabi Peninsula Coastline is 100+ miles long.

I've been told my routes are well detailed, however, neither of these routes have active industries, and neither have sessions. It is up to the user to add industries and create sessions. BOTH routes will need assets from the DLS and the Miyabi route uses Pofig's Speedtrees. If you need help finding the other assets, try doing a search on these forums.

Cntl-H turns the red/green switch arrows off.

Cheers,

Dave

Need to know what version your using but ...

Goto TPR Trainz Pro Routes
http://www.trainzproroutes.org/

These are the oldl versions but they are being updated to 2009/2010 last i read

MRL Montanna Rail Link about 900 Miles
Proto Clinch Extention Also very long very nice
Techapi Loop (Very nice version of the real line)
Sandpatch (B&0 / C&O winter Might not be as long as you like but very nice)

Get the custom items on dls, some of the items that have been updated won't download automaticall with the layot but they are there.

If your a steam fan goto Ben Neals site and you can download the locos on the standard section and the generic section and will give you atleat 24 nice steamers some have neen updated on dls

the UMR, or Ultra Mega Route, by Neilsmith749 is a great route, got to be 130 or so miles long, probably more (he can say better than me, to be honest i've never been able to drive it end to end). It has working LARS industries, mutiple branch lines, grades, varied terrain and locales, and much, much more. Be forewarned though, you need a FCT to download it, the route itself is 50+ megabytes (something like that), and there's more than 1500 assets. However, the time it takes to download is well worth it, as the route is arguably (read "in my opinion") the best route out there for trainz.

there are several versions of the route, but get the newest version, UMR2011. It even has a working hump yard! (you'll need to download the humpyard kit from TPR, search "UMR" under freeware announcements on the forums and you'll get the release thread that should tell you where to get it). hope you have as much fun with it as i do!

Are these compatible with trainz 12?

Are these compatible with trainz 12?

I have been working on MRL in 10 and now moving into 12. I asked for ever and a half ago on the TPR froums if uploading it to the DLS would be ok as to allow MP on it, but never heard back from any one.

And MRL is just under 300 miles long last time I ran end to end.

So is it compatible with 12? Yes or no?

Wow - and thanks for your help!

Why not just download the thing and see for yourself?

Whether a route is 'compatible' or not is entirely up to you, nobody else's judgement matters.

If by 'compatible' you mean utterly and entirely spoon fed, error free, good to go straight from the box? No it isn't.

If however you mean will it run OK after you spend some time chasing assets, repair the old faulty content (if any) and make whatever other changes you feel are necessary to meet your standards then 'Yes, it is'...

That was the aswer i was looking for! Thanks!

If you download it form TPR it will have errors, missing content, and might not work right. As for what I have been wroking on, its nearing that point. But I also want to set it up for MP so I will be adding working industries and what not.

Perhaps saying 'No" would have been a quicker way to respond? Why not just download and see for yourself? Well, for many of us, time, i.e. free time, is valuable. So, spending the time to download a route that isn't really compatible yet and that would require many hours to 'fix' might not be the way we want to spend our precious free time.

Thats why I said I was working on it. I have some, SOME, free time to throw into it.

As it sits now I have MRL in TRS12 Error free and working just fine. Had to replace most of the bridges and switch stands. Mind you, thats about 100 bridges, and over 1000 switch stands. 90% of which went missing in the transition from 06, to 10 then to 12. Now as it stands I COULD upload it to the DLS. But I am still adding industries like I said earlier. Its going to take a few more days, a week or two at the most, then I think the route might be ready. Then I still would like to get the OK from the guys at TPR before I put it on the DLS.

Mind you, the route is 300 some odd miles long, its takes about 4 1/2 hours to get form end to end. So if you say you have limited free time, then it might not be the best route for you.

Too early to ask this?

Hi All

is it too early to expect any of these routes and others to work with Trainz Mac yet?

Cheers!

I don,t bother running around trying to fix a route and finding dependancies. If I like a route I maybe spend a couple of weeks modifying it to suit my needs, setting up industries and adding rolling stock. I prefer my native UK loco's which I guess is rather strange as my favourite ones in the past were The Razorback Railway and more recently Port Ogden and Northern. I,m currently modifying WHOO Megaroute for the 2nd time, now that is a great layout. While browsing the DLS looking for yards I just found a delightfully quaint British route which I fell in love with. I think it,s called something like "A moment in time" . The route notes say it is the Author,s first route and it is the first in a series.
I can,t wait for the next one if that,s the case. I,m still exploring it but I found an impressive 6 platform terminus with a pretty complex approach called Potterton. There are a lot of facilities for servicing steAm loco's so I,m tempted to run a steam session although I,m normally a Diesel man. I find steam locos too much like hard work (shovalling all that coal, LOL). Now I,ll stop rabbiting on and close this post. Bye

Sorry Clive, I dont own a mac, so I dont know. But if its on the DLS I would assume that it would work on a Mac even if its made on a PC.

I really don't want to start something here, but frankly if your time is that valuable, Trainz is just not for you.

There are very very few (if any) routes to which the answer to 'Is this route compatible with TS12' is a blanket unqualified 'Yes'.

Likewise there are are very very few (if any) routes where the answer is an unqualified 'No'.

Almost every route ever made is 'compatible' with TS12 to one extent or another. How 'compatible' it is for you is solely up to you. Nobody else can make that call...
