Is there any large route that is 99% compatible with trainz 12 that i can download? Thanks!
There are lots of routes that can be operated in TS12, HOWEVER, what is a problem is that CMP obsoletes so much older content, such as trees, bridges, etc, that if they haven't been repaired by N3V, then you will either need to download the updated models from the DLS, or, get some new content to replace them with, particularly if they are from 3rd party websites. I think that TS12 has the same, or, similar built-in content to TRS2010, correct me if I'm wrong, so, most routes may have tracks and textures, etc, but, anything else you will need to have a look at to see if it works, or, not.
In the past I have downloaded routes and then gone into them, if CMP will let me, BEFORE, I download any assets for it, this gives me an idea of how big the layout is, how many railyards, passenger stations there are, etc, etc, etc. If it looks good, then I carry on and get all the content for it off the DLS through CMP, if it doesn't appeal to me, then I can delete it and move onto the next route, without having wasted any time downloading all the content for it.
The one thing that confuses me is when folks ask if a route, locomotives, rolling stock, is compatible in TS12. It has been stated that it is backwards compatible to TS2010 ONLY, anything else, is not tested. It is up to the content authors when they place items on the DLS to inform us what version of Trainz they created their content in, it is up to the end user to decide if something will work in TS12, especially, if it was originally created in TRS2004 or TRS2006 SP1, it's trial end error mostly. I have managed to get locomotives and rolling stock from TRS2006 and 2009 up and running in my CMP, they all have yellow warning arrows, but, they still function properly, I'm very pleased that nearly all of my Payware content from a few years ago appears to operate successfully.
By all means come and ask questions on the forum, that's what it is here for, there are many, many helpful people who have been on here for years / decades who can offer their suggestions and advice.
