Is this prototypical, or more big Bachmann mistakes?

Did ALCO ever make a 2-6-0?

And if they did, did Union Pacific ever own one?

Also, did Union Pacific ever own ALCO S2's?

And was the Liberty Bell Special pulled by a 2-6-0? Or was Bachmann just using another generic Bachmann trainset 2-6-0?

According to Bachmann, it was a real train. The box and a piece of paper inside said the history of the train.
(although, Bachmann could be wrong)

Is this the Liberty Bell Special you are referring to:

http://www.ushistory.org/libertybell/more/wreck.htm

Between 1885 and 1915, the Liberty Bell made seven trips to various expositions and celebrations. Each time, the bell travelled by rail, making a large number of stops along the way so that local people could view it.

That's the one. But what kind of engine pulled it? And was the replacement the same kind of engine as the original, or a different one?
